When the alert went off, be honest, did you think the Russia had launched one?

When the alert went off did you, for a fraction of a second, think Vlad had finally snapped and pressed the button?

Disappointing if he had because I if I’d known, I’d have added more loo roll to the Tesco delivery.

No

BitterTits · 14/08/2026 23:50

Nope.

NuffSaidSam · 14/08/2026 23:51

No, didn't cross my mind.

I did for a second think there might have been a terrorist attack as I was on the tube when it off and everyone was a bit panicked!

Tping · 14/08/2026 23:51

No, me neither.

I do think the ring tone should be an air raid siren though.

Not at all.

Oxo01 · 14/08/2026 23:57

I thought it was saying my phone was over heated as just fully charged it.

kookieCrumbles · 14/08/2026 23:57

For a couple of seconds I thought there was an attack on the UK.

daisyydaisyy · 14/08/2026 23:58

I thought it was coming from someone’s house and I was worried there was something wrong. DPs phone went off an hour later with the same thing again, whereas I only had the one. It made me jump but I didn’t think we were 2 milliseconds to midnight

geumsun · 14/08/2026 23:58

My first thought was that a missile was on route, yes. Hadn't entirely pinned it on Russia, maybe 95%.

Ozozozie · 14/08/2026 23:59

I was upstairs when my phone went off . I wasn’t bothered, it was stating the obvious to people who haven’t got common sense !

WhatAMarvelousTune · 14/08/2026 23:59

I was in Boots with my headphones in and it took me a second to realise it was phones making the noise rather than a fire alarm. And then when I did realise it was the emergency alert, I was more focused on making it stop than actually reading the message.

UsernameHoarder · 14/08/2026 23:59

I thought terrorist attack and was a bit reluctant to read it. I was quite surprised by my reaction tbh!

I was relieved when I did read it. (5 seconds later)

vodkaredbullgirl · 15/08/2026 00:00

No, not for one minute.

SnowFrogJelly · 15/08/2026 00:00

Nope

BCBird · 15/08/2026 00:00

No. My friend and I were having a cup of tea together. Her's went off first so mine shortly after did not come as a surprise

Ohcrap082024 · 15/08/2026 00:00

Nope. I thought it was a fire on Ashdown Forest.

Gitsandshiggles123 · 15/08/2026 00:01

I never got it.....

Heatwavestrawberries · 15/08/2026 00:01

I thought "isn't that the emergency alert? That's bad timing as we are going away next week." My priorities are skewed, clearly!

pigsDOfly · 15/08/2026 00:02

No. I didn't really think anything.

I was actually talking to someone on my phone when it came through. We both just read the message on our phones, and went on with our conversation.

Keep calm, carry on.

Best of British.
