I live in Wales but not a fluent Welsh speaker. Got the alert only in Welsh so spent a while
trying to recognise any words.

No we have had a,few mainly storm and weather warnings, l presumed it was a weather thing, im sure we won't get an alert if a missile is heading our way, government won't want panic.

I don't think it really registered with either of us that it was an actual alarm. It wasn't particularly loud or scary.

Mine was in Welsh, l love opposite Wales in Somerset, my phone always thinks it's in Wales, weirdly my wife's was in English

No I assumed there was a fire nearby and ran out to see if I could smell smoke.

Yes - I was driving - that was honestly my first thought, and my second thought was I don’t know WTF I can do about it.

Nope, my 9 year old son thought it was my alarm clock and I thought it was the game he was playing, I was still working my shift triaging for the community nurses for the NHS at the time and we have been having IT issues for the past 2 weeks so thought it was a scam!

I realised it was the government alert system so I assumed there was a new wildfire close to us and we were being warned to evacuate.

Was in the kitchen right next to my friend should just arrived to get sloshed with me on concktails.Her alarm on her phone, her watch, and mine on my phone and my watch went off and we looked at each other thenboth started singing the start of FGTH ‘two tribes’ and then cracked open the wine!

Nope. My work phone went off first, so my first thought was that the hospital hadn't let us know they had a new way of putting crash calls through to our phones, and that I needed to leg it into work (oncall from home).

Ha ha, it did cross my mind…

But we did just all calmly look at our phones, and I thanked my lucky stars it was not that, because I do have friends for whom that is the reality.

The actual content of the message was hardly great though, that we’re looking at possible wildfires in the UK. The famously cold and rainy islands.

Yeah, it sounded a lot like our bleeps sound for a crash call, so I can imagine some staff dropping everything and legging it before realising it wasn't that.

No, I thought it was a travel alert / warning. I do think setting this off dampens the seriousness / effectiveness of the alert. This causes a lot of panic when it is just not needed. This should be reserved for when you are genuinely in distance related danger of an incident.

For a moment, I thought similar. Then remembered the sound, but expected it to be a local emergency alert.

It's the first time I have heard it. I was in dh's car with dd friends phone. I thought it was the car alarm. Then I thought my village was on fire when I read it on my phone

I thought it was a local alert. We have fires about 15 miles away each year on the moors. I assumed it meant it was a local alert and one had spread. I had to check online that there was no fire near me.
