Just to walk around, take in some nice sights and eat/drink.

I really enjoy Antwerp and Dinant. I find Belgians really friendly and easy to talk to.

Always recency bias with me, but just had a trip to Milan and Trieste and loved both places. Next trip likely to be Copenhagen or Lyon. I’m not keen on going back to the mega cities for visitors, as I’m too old and grumpy to queue to look at a painting.

I see Copenhagen gets lots of love on this thread- any recommendations for times of year?

Bishbashbush · 23/07/2026 12:12

Paris, London, Bordeaux, Edinburgh

ConverselyAttired · 23/07/2026 12:13

Lyon
Copenhagen
Barcelona
Bruges
Venice

I don't like Paris or Madrid.

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 23/07/2026 12:13

Ghent

MrsBunny2018 · 23/07/2026 12:14

I really enjoyed Athens, I wouldn't go any other time of year other than Winter though.. Still pleasant temperatures with sunshine but sites weren't packed with tourists

Mydogisagentleman · 23/07/2026 12:16

Seville, Cordoba and Cartagena. All close to where we have a flat.
Ghent and Antwerp and Bruges for the people.

RoachFish · 23/07/2026 12:18

Stockholm, Copenhagen and Edinburgh.

DapperDame · 23/07/2026 12:19

Bruges

leporello · 23/07/2026 12:20

I was so pleasantly surprised by Ghent, was expecting a sort of poor relation of Bruges but it was so much more.

My favourite will always be Venice though, it's absolutely unique - but would only visit outside high season.

I long to visit Budapest, I feel it would be very much up my alley.

ginasevern · 23/07/2026 12:20

Naples

Bakeittillyoumakeit · 23/07/2026 12:21

Palma de Mallorca, Fira, Porto, Malaga, Florence.

SamAylward · 23/07/2026 12:41

Cologne or Bergen.

DW says nowhere beats Rome.

mydogisthebest · 23/07/2026 13:41

London is, and always will be, my favourite city. Born there and lived there for 40 years before (stupidly) moving away.

I also really like Ghent, Antwerp, Leiden, Berlin.

RaraRachael · 23/07/2026 13:51

Amsterdam. I've been loads of time and never tire of it.

Plus it's one of the very few cities you can fly to from either of our local airports.

Princejoffyjaffur · 23/07/2026 13:56

Bruges but out of season.

AmberUser · 23/07/2026 14:26

Cologne is gorgeous, especially at Christmas.

MrJumpyLegs · 23/07/2026 15:00

Sarajevo, Ljubljana, Trieste

FieldInWhichFucksAreGrownIsBarren · 23/07/2026 15:32

Seville, Prague or Madrid. I quite enjoy London when I go but it's way below these 3. Going to Rome in a few weeks so will see how that compares.

CypressMoon · 23/07/2026 15:35

London
Budapest
