I started a role last year and was on 6 months probation. 8 months into the role my probation was extended due to instances that occurred between the two months my probation should have been reviewed (6-8 months).
I was told what I need to do to “get there” which I have taken on board and tried hard to do. since the meeting, I have had another (informal) meeting with my manager that I asked for to explain how I feel since the meeting everything seems to be going wrong. I come in each day expecting to be fired and I keep seeing emails with my name on that are “going wrong”. For context this role is extremely high pressure, I work a full day of customer service calls while trying to process sales orders that come through constantly and fast with every particular requirements that we must make sure the item has. It’s like working two full time jobs.
I broke down on my call and said I don’t know if it is my time to just say I quit and be done with it.
My manager did say since my probation meeting I am now meeting my other targets, but it is other things I now need to brush up on. He followed up by saying he didn’t want to see me go and believes I have all the potential to complete probation.
this doesn’t disregard my anxiety and constant fear. I have children who rely on me. I have been looking elsewhere but nothing is coming up that would fit my needs. I am a single mother with high outgoings. I just don’t know what to do for the best.
