“I have never been so attracted to anyone, ever”

Is this a thing men just say? I’m dating after divorce and i was flattered with the first guy…suspicious the second. Am I being unreasonable to think it’s just a line, however vehemently they say it?

OP posts:

Just remember the golden rule that no one falls 'in love' faster than a man looking for somewhere to live!

nolongersurprised · 19/07/2026 00:08

Or someone who now has to look after his own children by himself.

SoBoredOfSelfDoubtHowToGetOut · 19/07/2026 00:10

Yes. It’s just a thing men say

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 19/07/2026 00:10

I’ve been with my DP for a year and they’re honestly the most attracted I’ve been to someone.

Or maybe I’ve been this attracted to other people and just forgotten? Like childbirth.

curiositykilledthecat0 · 19/07/2026 00:11

Or someone who just wants to get their leg over

DeeplyUnlikely · 19/07/2026 00:14

‘… and I’m dying to be balls-deep in you right now, so drop your knickers, there’s a love. Let’s get it on!’🙄

Lipglossed · 19/07/2026 00:23

Are you exceptionally attractive? If not, there’s your answer…

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 19/07/2026 00:51

A person doesn’t need to be attractive for people to be attracted to them.

Some people are just drawn to each other.

I don’t fancy people until I’ve got to know them. Then they become attractive.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/07/2026 08:09

I think I'd have to try very hard to not 🙄 🤮 or 🤭 if that was said to me. I mean, how could you keep a straight face?

letsdoitforaweek · 19/07/2026 08:19

I wouldn't take much notice. Look at what they're willing to do for you when you need help, how much they remember details important to you, how calm they are in a crisis, and the other true signs of a decent man.

Justusethebloodyphone · 19/07/2026 08:46

Actions before words. Every time.

And if you feel it’s tied into getting physical more often, or more intensely than you’d like, run.

NotAnotherScarf · 19/07/2026 08:51

It's a great line...like "what's your name because in my dreams last night all I could call you ws Baby" but its a line.

There apparently are a lot of dating instructors out there who help in getting to meet women and what to say....im not talking about the movie Hitch but online courses, videos etc. Men watch them to become 'player' so I'd have my suspicions

weirdoexincident · 19/07/2026 09:43

It’s like: ‘That is the best blow job I have EVER had’. 🤣
Yeah. Course it is.

Yeah. Course it is.

This is true though! The best blowjob I've ever had is always going to be the one I'm having right now, because that's the one I'm feeling rather than remembering.

Yes, it's recency bias obviously, but it doesn't make it any less true.

It's the same for OPs post. An ongoing attraction is obviously going to feel stronger than whatever you felt for someone in the past, because your in the middle of it.

I’m a woman and wholeheartedly agree with you. Feelings can be very intense in the moment.

However, I did tell one guy he was the best I’d ever had, when in reality he was very disappointing 😬.

ChiefCookandBottlewasher7 · 19/07/2026 10:48

At all times we, women, must be realistic, even if it is hurtful. To answer your question, we need to look at whom this line is addressed. If the line is addressed at a gorgeous girl in her 20s, then the line is probably true. Anyone else? Be for real, ladies, as contemporary children say.

Elsvieta · 19/07/2026 20:51

Are you a world-class beauty?

Or extremely rich?

You know whether you might actually be the hottest woman he's ever set eyes on, and we don't. But I think it's a line.

TheGreatDownandOut · 19/07/2026 20:55

Ah yes, it’s a line. Like “I’ve never felt this way about anyone before” or “I think I’ve met ‘the one’” or “I wish I had met you sooner”

I sometimes think they think they mean it. Or perhaps I’m being too fair.

Kvfihi · 19/07/2026 20:56

I’m afraid it is a line, I have my own that I used to use. However there’s no harm in enjoying it when it’s said.

C'mon, then. Let's have it. 🤔

NewGoldFox · 19/07/2026 22:21

Like Hozier said “ I meant every word I said when I said it…”

SometimeSuperman · 20/07/2026 17:59

I said it to my ex...I meant it 🤷🏻‍♂️

Jorge14 · 20/07/2026 18:00

Take no notice, I’d be more interested in what he brings to the table.

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 20/07/2026 18:18

Is this his excuse for premature ejaculation and are you dating my ex

WhatNoCrisps · 20/07/2026 18:20

Bingbangboo · 18/07/2026 23:02

Just remember the golden rule that no one falls 'in love' faster than a man looking for somewhere to live!

Or an older man trying to snare a younger woman.
