AIBU to feel sorry for the children of today?

I read a Met Office report today which stated that temperature highs in the UK have increased by 4.5 degrees C over the past decade. If this trend continues, in 2036 we might have highs of 45 degrees and in 2046 (only 20 years away) highs of 50 degrees. Animals will be dying, more humans will be dying. I am so thankful to have had the foresight to not bring children into this situation as I can't even imagine how inhospitable the Earth might become in their lifetime. AIBU to feel sorry for children who will probably live to witness and experience unimaginable suffering?

Beef (and arable) farmer - I’ll pass thanks as I’ve better things to do with my time, you know, like growing crops and rearing cattle.

No. There is nothing your children can do that will mitigate the damage their existence will do to the planet. Doesnt matter how."green" their lifestyle. They will be consumers. Food. Housing. Transport. Clothing. Internet. Technology. You name it, they will use it.

What rubbish! Our children could drive major technological advancements that could undo the damage our generation did.

They wont. Tech advancements are made by industry, not consumers. There's a 0.0000000000000000001% chance that one of your kids grows up to be the next Elon Musk, but the reality is they will be a regular consumer like the rest of us.

They could work in industry, politics, the third sector….. we need well informed, critical thinking and compassionate young people in the world

you seem to be very sure of your “facts” about my children and how they compare to other humans. do you have children @ThePeppyOpalScroller ? You don’t sound like you like them very much.
