Was I unreasonable?

I came home today to someone parked in my space/drive (it’s a regular occurrence but I’m usually blocked in, not out). Last time I was blocked in, I used my horn and they came out. Today I have pulled up behind them and used my horn again. She snapped at me and said I was rude and I should knock on to ask her to move
rude or not?

Sorry if I’m not explaining well, I have chronic health conditions and wiped after work

I can ring the police if I’m blocked in luckily but I hate doing it as it’s so often
the neighbours just say “well knock and ask (I get attitude when I do this), you can’t expect our visitors not to block you in, you’re being ridiculous”
I think the solicitors letter was maybe 18 years ago now

Okay well, I wouldn't allow someone to treat me that way and I sure as hell wouldn't be worrying about whether they thought I was rude, but it takes all sorts. * *

Oh I have gone ballistic to the point my parent walked off and left me to it as “you were handling it perfectly well” and there was a lot of curtain twitching

that worked for the longest because I rang the police after it as well
i am just fed up, tired and struggling with anxiety/panic attacks and they’re really not helping

Unfortunately it doesn’t help. I have tried pleading, police, solicitors letters, being friendly, and outright screaming like a fish wife last time

Then carry on tooting.

It’s your only option left.

rude/not rude, it’s irrelevant. You’ve asked nicely, no need for manners now. They need to stop being dicks. Rude is what these people are doing telling people to park in your space.

tell whoever parks in your space this every time they say you’re being rude.

bollards chains and or signage

Park where there visitors park.

when they knock just say “you can’t expect people not to block you in”

Then close the door!

seriously though - approach the council about getting double yellows. They shouldn’t be parking there if it’s a dropped kurb anyway but if lines are painted you can take photos. Some councils will even put up signs.

Sell it to the council that they could paint lines, put a sign up with fines stated and make some cash!

I have signs that say “house number X, no parking”

No dropped kerb but it’s level with the road so you just drive straight on

Then like I said carry on tooting. It’s not you, it’s them.

fuck them.

VineandIvy · 16/07/2026 22:20

the horn bothered them, it was publicly embarrassing. They didn't like it, therefore use it again and again, use it long, use it ignorantly, use it with a smile.

I guarantee if you torture them with a long horn noise with no let up every day/incident for a month, they will stop.

maryberryslayers · 17/07/2026 14:23

Then block everyone in by parking outside your house every single time they block your space. And if they block you in call the police. You need to make life difficult for them like they are for you.

SparklyBrickViper · 17/07/2026 14:29

Keep tooting.

Keep blocking.
