I came home today to someone parked in my space/drive (it’s a regular occurrence but I’m usually blocked in, not out). Last time I was blocked in, I used my horn and they came out. Today I have pulled up behind them and used my horn again. She snapped at me and said I was rude and I should knock on to ask her to move

I own a parking space, it comes with my house. It’s my only parking and is on my deeds. It’s not outside my house but it is 100% mine and has been for the last 20 years. Unfortunately they say I can’t expect to not be blocked in
they have a house also with a parking space, but allow their visitors to park blocking me in, or on whoever’s space/drive is free

Why would you think you're unreasonable? Unless you mean the space outside your property which isn't actually a drive then of course it's not unreasonable to get frustrated and be curt with twats who use your drive as their own personal parking space

Unfortunately it doesn’t help. I have tried pleading, police, solicitors letters, being friendly, and outright screaming like a fish wife last time

I will have to do one slightly adjusted or it’s really outing but I am not sure if I have a pen….

So not a drive then but still out of order if it's clearly marked as you allocated space. I'd park behind them next time and stop them from getting out and make them knock for you.

I did try that previously about 4 years ago, took my doorbell off and went for a bath. It worked for a week and then back to the same

They have been going to all the new people on the road (3 families have moved in the last 6 months) and telling them that “they don’t get on with me”
I don’t have any issue with them but I just want a peaceful life

So either keep blocking them in or just install a parking bollard?

They are not parked in your space?

It’s the same hassle - if I block them in, I do eventually have to come out to let them out but I don’t trust them not to ram my car TBH. Bollard isn’t allowed but doesn’t solve the blocking in (I would say I am blocked in twice a week, they use my space maybe every other month)

You need to make it more inconvenient for them to use your space/block you in than to find somewhere else to park. Block them in your space whenever you can and don't move for as long as possible.

You can also try very sticky notes on the windshield that they have to pick off before they can drive.

It's already escalated to solicitor's letters so you have nothing to lose.

Why is a bollard not allowed? Is it a rented property and if so is theirs also rented?

Ask the council to paint double yellow lines around the cul de sac so no one can park.

I thought you could call the police if you are blocked in by bad parking?

I can ring the police if I’m blocked in luckily but I hate doing it as it’s so often
the neighbours just say “well knock and ask (I get attitude when I do this), you can’t expect our visitors not to block you in, you’re being ridiculous”
I think the solicitors letter was maybe 18 years ago now

I own but it’s a leasehold. They rent
my leasehold people can’t do anything as when I am blocked in they’re not parked on the leasehold land
