AIBU to think a school water fight during a hosepipe ban is wrong?

So DD's school is planning to go ahead with a water fight afternoon tomorrow despite the area being subject to a hosepipe ban. I know it's all for a bit of fun but it really doesn't sit well with me, where is their social conscience? And what does that teach the children about rules of society? To top it off we had a message sent home tonight about how much of an "Eco-school" they are. AIBU in thinking WTF?

Yet two weeks ago the thread was that schools were being horrible for not allowing water fights.

I doubt many of the kids have any idea about a hose pipe ban.

Presumably they won’t be using a hosepipe. A water fight for a bunch of kids will use less water than bath time for one family of four. Probably less than bath time for two people, actually.

I used to work for an organisation that had role in drought prevention and trust me, a kids’ water fight isn’t a big deal.

Hosepipe bans get put in plane because hosepipes expel a hell of a lot water very quickly and people have absolutely no sense of how much water they’re using when they wash a car or water their garden or hook up a lawn sprinkler. The reason it’s specifically hosepipes that get banned rather than, eg, refilling swimming pools or hot tubs is just because it makes people more conscious of the amount of water they’re using and it stops them using more than they realise. It’s a very blunt instrument for reducing water usage chosen partly because it’s easy for people to understand and it’s easier to enforce - and it doesn’t mean people can’t fill watering cans or a bucket from a tap or that kids can’t fill up water balloon or lob a wet sponge at their mates. Those things are small fry.

I'm more interested in hearing about the overt corruption of the water companies in the past decade. That's the elephant in the room.

Seriously, how many litres of water do you expect to be thrown? Each flush of a toilet is 6 litres. A hosepipe is 1000l per hour. I suspect the waterfight will be closer to the former than the latter.

Are they actually using hosepipes?
