Christian Horner is rumoured to be joining the F1 paddock again

For those who don’t know, he’s the disgraced former Red Bull Racing boss who left in the middle of a scandal last year, following allegations of sexual harassment towards a female member of staff.

He left with a pay out of £80 million and has now apparently opened the door to work with another team.

AIBU to be really fucked off as a female F1 fan? I know that money rules the world, but why on earth should he be allowed to mistreat women like this and then just stroll into another job like nothing has happened?!

YANBU. It’s disgraceful that he could be allowed back in. It’s a big FU to female F1 fans, myself included.

It just makes me want to give up on the sport all together, to be honest. I regularly attend races and it makes me feel that I’m not welcome.

I’m not a F1 fan particularly, but this just looks so bad to all the young women in the lower….levels? Don’t know what you call it, but the current teenage drivers. They are just going to this is completely acceptable, because it is completely acceptable.

rusteenail · 06/07/2026 17:20

@NoCommentingFromNowOnthe academy drivers- yes what message does it send to them?!

Yes, those poor female drivers. At the same time the sport is pushing the F1 Academy, they’re allowing this. It really is disgraceful

This season has been a pleasure without Sky constant cutting to Moaner Horner on the Pit Wall.

His behaviour was awful, I can’t get “that” image out of my head .. and yes it smacks of Rich & Entitled man gets away with it

It really has. I just feel so disheartened

Is that what you think the big announcement is? Lots of people are assuming it’s Max leaving Red Bull.

I’ve seen speculation about both. The only reason I think it’s not that is because RB have been posting like normal on twitter. It would be quite weird for them to act like everything is fine if he’s about to turn F1 upside down!

One driver leaving is hardly going to turn F1 upside down. Am I misunderstanding you?

Max fans are incredibly loyal. If he left F1 to go to another red bull racing sport, there would definitely be fans that would jump ship with him. This year the nordschlieff sold out for the first time ever simply because he was racing, they haven’t ever come close before. And I know this as I was at the F1 this weekend and was talking to fellow fans and pretty much they all said the same. Silverstone is getting too expensive and they can get more bang for their buck in other countries following other motor sports.

I think that if Max or Lewis were to leave it would change the sport

I’ve been to four grands prix and besides Monza, which is tifosi through and through, Max fans are overwhelming at every other race. They descend in their tens of thousands

Also leaving at this point in the season would be huge.

Will Buxtons tweet is worded exactly the same as when Lewis went from Mercedes to Ferrari.

MeetMeOnTheCorner · 06/07/2026 18:18

Lewis will have to retire at some point. All drivers and cars have fans. They get replaced! It’s been like that for decades. No one is permanent.

I don’t care much about what Horner does. I doubt it’s going back to Red Bull. And I’ve been to lots of Grand Prix over 50 years!

I definitely think he stands alone in lots of ways against the other drivers. He seems deeply committed to driving and doesn’t do the glitz/glam sponsorship/peacocking stuff that others get into. He is like a bar of rock, cut him open and it says redbull. You very very rarely see him in anything other than work gear/jeans and he’s happy driving anything and if is not a vehicle it’s his SIM. He is team Work and team Family and I like that. Some of the outfits Lewis has worn are just a bit ridiculous, and while I like Lando for Lamdostand and his eagerness to avoid dynamic prices for his fans, I don’t doubt it’s still a not self serving. Bottas has a great sense of humour, George is a bit of a crier, kimi has shown his lack of experience this weekend although it’s been nice to see him coming up etc. For me, Max really is the best driver on the grid at the moment. Although I did have a very brief wobble at the weekend when he refused to sign my nephews cap in the paddock 😂. But even my nephew said he seemed to be having a bad day. Unfortunately it turned into a bad weekend.

Toomanyclothesinthecloset · 06/07/2026 18:40

My guess is Max leaving Red Bull.

He’s only my favourite (besides Leclerc!) because he just eats sleeps and loves racing. That’s all he cares about, and it would be such a shame if these new regs deprived us of one of the greats.

It isn't a surprise as he's incredibly good at what he does. Supposedly BYD are creating a team and want him.

The fact he had an affair with an employee is really neither here nor there. The allegations were found to have no basis by an independent barrister and by Red Bull. The leaked messages very much painted a two-way relationship, though granted there would have been a power imbalance.

He was sacked because Mateschitz and Jos Verstappen didn't want him there.

It’s impossible to have a two way relationship with that power dynamic. It is always inherently going to exploit the woman and place her at risk.

You only have to read Suzy Wolff’s book to know that there are certain people in F1 who think they can take whatever they want. She had a very unpleasant & scary encounter with someone I’m guessing she’s not allowed to name.

ElizaSchuyler · 06/07/2026 21:14

False alarm - the announcement was Indycar

Ukkake · 06/07/2026 21:38

I thought it was investigated and he was found not guilty of anything?

MeetMeOnTheCorner · 06/07/2026 21:46

I cannot wait for Verstappen to go. Smug self centred ego-maniac. Always threatening to go if he doesn’t get his way. Handed his first world championship on a plate after safety car cock up and he’s throwing his toys out of the pram now his car isn’t the best. Yuk !
