To cut all my hair off and get a curly short cut with a fringe πŸ™ˆ

Tomorrow I am going to my hairdresser. To get my hair cut after a very long time!

It’s well below my bra strap curly, well wavy at this length. Central part no fringe.

Not sure how much it will curl anymore since two pregnancies.

Tell me your fringe successes and failures. I have spent a long time thinking about this and I 98% certain I am going to do it 😬

Only if you want to style it daily!

I have wavy/curly hair and have always had a fringe. I've never styled it in my life.

Cuppachuchu · 03/07/2026 06:08

@Tofringeornot Maybe cut it to mid way, your collarbone or shoulders first before going really short? Taking all the length away is going to make it spring up and out.

Jellylasagnafortwo · 03/07/2026 07:32

Go for it! Make sure your hairdresser knows about curls/waves especially with a fringe.

I don’t find a fringe hard in the summer although I mostly wear hats.

Do not get a fringe with wavy hair if you want anything close to low maintenance!

This!!!!

SmotherhoodandApplePie · 03/07/2026 07:45

I have properly curly hair which was long for many years until I went short a few months ago. I now have a boyish pixie with side fringe because I have a quite square face shape. I love it! Its the easiest style for my hair I've ever had and takes seconds to style every day.

CoastalCalm · 03/07/2026 08:09

I’d get it cut without a fringe first to see how you feel about it and how it curls etc - can always add a fringe later

Dontcallmescarface · 03/07/2026 08:13

I have short curly hair with a curly fringe. I've never styled it I just wash it, scrunch it and leave it. The only time my hair sees a brush is for 2 weeks until I get it cut again. I love it and the fringe has never stuck to my head during the hot weather.

And I have far too many forehead wrinkles now. Its either fringe or Botox lol

Have you taken a pic and asked chat gpt to suggest styles? I used remini a while back and was pleasantly surprised at all the options it gave me.

OH NO!!!

This is what I am confused about. I don’t actually know what’s going to happen when it’s cut. It only grew this long because of pregnancy hormones.

But my mother’s curls dropped out to waves at pregnancy and when I look at my baby hairs (the ones near the temples) they used to be coiled and frizzy and now are wavy curls. So I don’t think I have the same pattern as previously.

Are you breastfeeding? My hair went virtually straight when I was breastfeeding dd2. Then it went back to normal once I stopped ie the roots grew curly and the straight grew out (so there was quite a long in-between phase).

And now I'm menopausal my hair is more wavy than curly. So your curls may return, too. But I guess right now you need a style that suits the hair you have right now.

Jackiepumpkinhead · 03/07/2026 08:47

I love curly hair but a curly fringe, or straight fringe with the rest curly just looks odd, IMHO.

Tofringeornot · 03/07/2026 15:48

Omg I did it!!!

I bloody love it!!! It’s a kind of half grown out long sienna miller style. He said that would be better and more predictable than a full fringe. But I might just get him to cut the full fringe next time. Let’s see πŸ₯³πŸ₯³πŸ₯³πŸ₯³

Do it. It's fun! Start with longer curtain bangs and go shorter gradually so it's not a drastic change.

Can we see a picture? Obviously blank out your face.

Justbreathagain · 03/07/2026 17:03

You only live once go for it. I got a fringe cut in about 6m ago and was scared but I love. I don't have wavy hair though. It's just hair it will grow back !

GotALionInMyPocket · 03/07/2026 17:07

I can’t imagine a curly short cut with a fringe. Can you show us an example of what you mean op?

Do you mean like a curly bob? Or short short??

Ive just chopped my boob length curls for around shoulder length as its getting too much to cope with during pregnancy. I struggled with finding time to wash/style it when it was so long when my first was born and eneded up wearing it up kost of the time so decided to do it earlier this time. Side part with slight face framing pieces. Wouldn't go for a short cut and fringe straight away.
Try a side part then once you've got the hang of styling see if fringe will work. You can always go shorter.

Tofringeornot · 03/07/2026 17:35

So it’s not a full full fringe but he didn’t want to do it. He said let’s see how this goes and we can work on it. Really happy with it. Put it in a little bun. Also tried Princess Leia buns and they look super cool 😎

Have attached the inspo picture I settled on for day to day, and I think he’s got it bang on!

Also check out my hair which will be sending to little princess trust

Came to this thread late but as a bra strap-waist length curly haired person, old enough to be a grandmother it seems, I’ve always opted for layering and between jaw and earlobe length for the β€˜fringe’ …. Every single time I have been to a hairdresser demanding a fringe they have gently refused. Their argument being that β€˜we can shorten it next time - see how it feels at this length first.’

Have always been happy with their advice and cut, so really hope you were today too.

It looks amazing @Tofringeornot! I also love the inspiration pic and how amazing that the princess trust can get all that hair too!

Looks lovely OP. But that’s no fringe at all. Good thing imo.

Allseeingallknowing · 03/07/2026 18:12

It looks lovely, but wouldn’t call it very short!

Tofringeornot · 03/07/2026 19:40

Thanks all 😊 super happy with it.

Yes it’s not super short or a full fringe. It’s a kind of progression from super long centre part. Will update if we go any further!

Wishing all your curls much bounce and your fringes much freedom πŸ˜‚
