Aibu to ask why the media isn't reporting on this more? Why aren't we hearing that two of the leading figures in the Raise the Colours movement are literal paedophiles and murderers?

It highlights what any decent person knows, that bigots and racists are nasty, odious human beings. But why isn't it being reported more widely?

I always thought that all they harped on about ‘savin are wimmin n kids’ was a cover up for the fact they are all abusers. It’s pretty obvious.
The reason we aren’t hearing much is because of the majority of our media is owned and connected to people who want to create a divisive society as it benefits their agenda. The whole campaign is a distraction and quite a few naive and simple folk have fallen for it and the rest want to be involved to try and cover up their own wrongdoings

It saddens me that so many people don't see that these men and their ilk are rotten to the core. Good, decent people don't go around intimidating minorities, rioting and stirring up hatred and division. Decent people in this country need to speak up against the racists, they're in the minority but seem to think that everyone agrees with their odious views.

I mean you’ve found two news sources there on some nonentities no one has heard of who represent some obscure local far right group so it seems fairly well covered considering the lack of notability of the suspects and the fact they haven’t been found guilty of anything yet and trial by media can mess up prosecutions. So at this point, I’d be asking yourself… is it really that newsworthy? The editors of other news outlets obviously think not. They may change their minds if these blokes are found guilty.

I'd love to know why I'm being unreasonable to those who have voted that way. Are there people who seriously don't want to know that the leaders of a so called 'patriotic' organisation are murderers and paedophiles? Does it not suit your narrative of honest, decent patriots with genuine concerns?

I would agree with you if it weren't so blatantly biased in the other direction. If a brown or black person who was a leader of a pro immigrant or left wing organisation was charged with similar crimes it would probably make the headlines. The difference in the news coverage between the attack the other week in Edinburgh versus the attack in Belfast or the attack in Golders Green shows that there is a definite media bias. If the perpetrator is white it seems to be deemed not to be as news worthy.

However, I believe we should condemn all monstrous men regardless of skin colour. With regard to your assertion that you need monsters to protect you from monsters. You have lost the plot the entirely. Monsters won't protect you from anything. They destroy everything they touch.

This is the point the racists have gotten to. If they're white they can crack on. It's never been about protecting women and girls. It's pure unadulterated hatred and racism. They're twisted, bitter, unhappy people looking for people to look down on to make themselves feel better. I can envisage quite a few of the racist posters on Mumsnet would have quite happily been concentration camp guards or lynch mob ring leaders in another life.

The other side is that some people feel so unheard by the government that they’ll follow anyone making noise about the current issues.
If governments dealt with issues head on, there would be no space for the far left or right.

If anything for the last two years the media have been guilty of the opposite, hiding the identity in certain cases but all to happy to put Joe blogg’s name and face in the paper, as long as he’s a born citizen and isn’t being processed as an immigrant, black or white or brown.
They fell over themselves to name the man in the sword train incident in London as he was black with an English name.

Nope and nope. To not support bigotry and racism, especially when those bigots and racists have been charged with heinous crimes, does not make me a leftie out to save the world. I have political views which cross the spectrum from left to right depending on the issue, but I abhor racists and fascists and believe we should call them out at every turn.

No. I live in Ireland in a leafy green diverse area where we only fly flags for the football or other international sporting events.
Not everyone who has concerns about mass immigration is a toothless flag flyer.
A lot of my neighbours have serious concerns about mass immigration and they were once immigrants but they aren’t scared to say we’re getting a bad bunch, probably gathered up from prison.

I think it's also an element of the class system. The ultra wealthy elite who are using the media and social media to promote hatred and division are strongly targeting the white working class and underclass in this country as it gives them someone to look down on. A member of the underclass who lives on benefits and has never worked a day in their life is looked down upon by most, but racism gives them a away to feel superior.

As LBJ wrote, "If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you."

I have concerns about mass migration, many people do. However, we don't need to descend into racism and fascism.

because it seems the word "fascism" is often used loosely by the public as a catch-all term for any system of power or authoritarian mandate they dislike, rather than the highly specific ultranationalist and militant ideology that emerged in the 20th century

@PenelopeJoanSterling because there are decent and democratic ways of going about things which respect people's humanity regardless of their colour, creed or nationality. And there are fascistic and authoritarian ways about going about things which deny people their humanity and dignity and make monsters out of societies and people.

If you can't see the echoes from the 1920s and early 1930s today then you aren't paying attention. We're not in the fascistic and ultra nationalist late 1930s or 1940s, but there are many similarities to Weimar Germany right now.
