AIBU to refuse my neighbour asking to share my car repair booking?

Currently have a mobile car body shop repair man on drive. I asked him if he wanted to rearrange due to heat and he replied with ‘if it’s ok I’ll come early and put a tent/shade up, crack on and be gone before heat kicks in.’
great, happy with this. Told my neighbour, just in case she was disturbed and she was fine with it.

Roll on this morning and the guy arrives 7.30 to set up, he’s actually really quiet. Neighbour pops out walking dog and says to him
’seeing as you’re going to be done early can you do a few bits on mine and as tent etc is already up I can move my car so you won’t have to move it’
it is an all day job I was booked for, but he’s started at 7.30 instead of 9.30 and aims to be finished by 2.30 instead of 4.30.
I’ve just had 3 WhatsApp messages to ask me if I can get repair man to agree and that it’s only fair due to her being disturbed very early this morning. I’m literally agog!

Avoid her going forward, rude, pushy cheeky fxxker.

liamharha · 24/06/2026 16:32

It up to the repair man surely

Update: 14.10

I went out to give him a cold drink, he’s nearly finished.

I got no further response from last message I sent stating he wasn’t keen.

As I was taking glass from him she’s popped out and stated ‘and here’s me thinking there’s a cost of living crisis and here you are turning work down’ got in her car and drove off.

🤣🤣 he'd be mad to work for her after that! She thinks he ought to be grateful for the privilege of being asked to work in a heatwave, as if money is everything and he's got to be poverty stricken. She's a weirdo who'd probably find some reason not to pay him.

chocoluv · 24/06/2026 16:51

She sounds bloody awful.

Give her his details and tell her to book him in when he’s next free.

What part of no is she struggling to understand.

Laura95167 · 24/06/2026 16:53

If you dont want to pay for her appt No is the only answer. CF

I want to know what body shop repairs can be carried out on a drive?

LondonLass2026 · 24/06/2026 17:12

If she was in need of a car body repair guy that much, why didn't she book her own long before she saw yours?

Sickens me how people think it's such an easy job that he can "just pop over and do mine while he's here". My partner does this for a job, and it is HARD. It is literally a mixture of physics and chemistry. You have to use fractions to weigh the various materials needed, and it is long, hard work.

Cheeky cow, and tell her to stop sending stupid messages or you'll block her.

Of course it can. It's a huge industry. My partner has done it for 15 years.

pictoosh · 24/06/2026 17:23

She sounds like someone who is used to getting her own way.

Google it if you're curious. There are five businesses doing this within 10 miles of me.

There are loads of things that don’t absolutely demand getting a car up on a ramp. And a good mechanic can find ways to get around most things if they need to.

banmusk · 24/06/2026 17:47

No one has ever tried anything like that with me, I wish they would, I'd have so much fun.

QueenietheGreat · 24/06/2026 17:51

@whoahokeycokey
Tell her to get her own appointment
Whatever next?
That because both appointments were side by side
He might almost go 2 for 1 ??

zobeit · 24/06/2026 14:56

She wanted to piggyback your booking, use your drive, ignore the conditions he’s working in, selfishly and persistently have you arrange something for her rather than ask herself and then insulted him?
She’s something else isn’t she?
When she needs a favour make yourself scarce.

The thing is that cheeky neighbor did ask him herself and he said NO. So why has she pestered @whoahokeycokey 7 or more times since then?? And then told him off before during away.

I agree, she IS something else. WTH is wrong with entitled people who won't take no for an answer?

I'd be plotting revenge, but I'm petty that way. 🙄

Arlanymor · 24/06/2026 11:10

I don't see what it's got to do with you - it's his choice to make. What did he say when she said to him: ’seeing as you’re going to be done early can you do a few bits on mine and as tent etc is already up I can move my car so you won’t have to move it’ Presumably he either said yes or no? If he said yes, then leave them to it and if she messages you again just tell her to communicate with him directly. If he said no, then remind her that he said he no. That's it.

Its everything to do with the op, cf neighbour want to use the tent on op drive!!

toohotforallthis · 24/06/2026 15:39

It’s not up to you, it’s up to him whether he wants to

It would be up to her if he's using her drive

zobeit · 24/06/2026 19:21

Fair points @Beenwhereyouareagain

Tell her to Foxtrot Oscar. Cheeky Fucker!

MandemChickenShop · 24/06/2026 19:33

clearly nuts, but at least she owns it! the cost of living comment is pure chef's kiss!

sueelleker · 24/06/2026 19:46

Was she expecting you to pay for it "since he was there anyway"? I had similar, when I had someone doing work at the front of the house. He told my neighbour he'd give her a quote! :D

She’s been mostly ok, borrowed the odd thing, returned with thanks etc… just been chatting to another neighbour who wandered down and wanted repair man’s details. Gladly passed over.

Repair man said he was sorry he couldn’t do it but he’s rammed, but he didn’t want it to be awkward as apparently this happens a lot 😱

Probably wanted a discount rate too seeing as " he was already here"! cheeky cow.

IcyShark · 25/06/2026 17:56

My reply to her messages would start with an F and end with an Off
