How many times has it happened before? I feel like some context is missing.

MyArtfulGreySloth · 16/06/2026 21:00

If it’s not a regular occurrence then he’s a twat.

Well unless there's some kind of history with the guy then that's bananas.

amraa · 16/06/2026 21:06

He’s a 🔔 end, he should live in a forest away from humans. He’s clearly not a nice person

Ruralrecluse · 16/06/2026 21:07

Did it do any damage. I'd be pissed off if me or my dog had been hit. Or if my plants had been crushed. Or my greenhouse smashed. More context needed. If it just landed on the grass, meh.

KojaksLollipop · 16/06/2026 21:10

He’s an idiot. My back to back neighbour used to make my kids walk around to their front door to get their ball, the very few times it went over in several years. When her son grew up I’d just throw theirs over and with a sweet voice said, “no problem, enjoy your game”.

user1471453601 · 16/06/2026 21:10

My ( still) neighbours children, now adults, kicked their ball into my patio at least twice a week when they were younger.

there is no access to my patio except through my house.

Theyd kick the ball into my patio, they'd knock on my door, I'd retrieve their ball and give it back to them. No issue. It's hardly inconvenient.

good manners (neighbours children were always super polite) make good neighbours. No need for dramatics

Me too! Or if I was just sitting there with a cup of tea and suddenly a ball came flying past my face

Just landed on grass. Madness

Did it break anything or hurt one of his pets? If not, that seems a big over-reaction.

HumberSquid · 16/06/2026 21:12

X post. Yes, madness.

hereforthelolz · 16/06/2026 21:14

How many times as it happened by other people and not your son.

I once lived surrounded by neighbours with balls flying over the fence constantly. It was infuriating. If you can't contain it in your garden, go to the park.

Overthebow · 16/06/2026 21:14

Yes he’s crazy if it was the first time.

Glidinglikeaswan · 16/06/2026 21:18

My neighbour's child hit a cricket ball straight through my study window. He left me the sweetest note (he's dyslexic, so wonderful spelling), I claimed on insurance (who sent someone straight round to board it up) and his parents paid the excess. Nobody was screaming. Your neighbour is an arse.

Raindropskeepfallingon · 16/06/2026 21:21

People say angry things when suddenly startled. Say by a football landing nearby out of the blue on their own property.

Yes he’s rude and overreacting but that’s the risk you take when you start disturbing people who were simply minding their own business in their own garden.

PinkCatCushion · 16/06/2026 21:26

There are two sides to every story.

MissyB1 · 16/06/2026 21:26

Sounds like a grumpy intolerant fucker. I’ve lost count of the number of balls that have come in my garden, no big deal, I throw them back. We were all kids once.

This.

People can overact in the heat of the moment when they are startled/scared by something.

Ultimately your kid should not be kicking balls into other people's gardens.

For all you know the guy could have had neighbours before who did this repeatedly and he has no patience left.

Frankly I would be annoyed too because I don't want the risk of my plants and plant pots being damaged, my pets being hurt or getting a flying football in the face while I am gardening or sitting on my garden furniture.

LuckyHazelFox · 16/06/2026 21:44

If he's watching the football he will be pissed off it's disturbed him.

How do you know? People don't shout for no good reasons unless exceptional.

Ladamesansmerci · 16/06/2026 23:46

Some of the replies on here 😂

Sorry, but if you don't want to deal with balls coming over your fence, go and buy a lone house in a field, live in a flat, or erect fences so high that you can see them from outer space. If you live in a family neighborhood, balls coming over fences is part of childhood. Children don't usually do it on purpose. Just throw it back. And a soft ball coming over a fence won't hurt your pet. It's been thrown by a child, not pelted at top speed by an Olympian.

I don't care if you're startled, it's no excuse to shout and swear at someone over such a non event where nothing has even been git. Control yourself.
