Stickers on badly parked cars?

I live in beautiful village by the sea which gets lots of visitors on sunny days. We have loads of parking but invariably people will try and park as close to the shop as possible.

This might mean driving up on to grass and leaving their car there while they go in to the shop 'for just a minute '. We are ALL going in to the shop for 'just a minute' but that doesn't mean we can park in a way that obstructs others or damages grass and flowers.

Some people literally just stop in the lane of traffic outside the shop and go in. Leaving everyone behind them to wait for a break in traffic coming from the other direction to get around them.

I don't think there is any way to really stop the behaviour but I am strongly considering putting stickers on the driver's window saying that they parked badly. A quick Google tells me such stickers exist.

Has anyone done this? Any particular ones you'd recommend?

I’d just go for stickers that say ‘twat’

Zealous traffic wardens and the appropriate parking restrictions is what you need. Also higher penalty charges for SUVs.

I'd prefer points on licences, but sadly unlikely to happen.

I have large stickers in my handbag, and have written 'this is a pavement, please don't park on it' or somesuch.
I stick one on the back and one on the screen.
My neighbourhood is populated by posh twats in monster cars, and the roads are narrow.

The Police can issue points for parking but sadly don't usually

Yanbu and I agree with you- but do you really want to reduce your life to watching out for and stickering badly parked cards. It’ll make you bad tempered and resentful.

The stickers will only make you feel better. Won’t make any difference to the recipient of the sticker!!

It sounds annoying but if you make it your life's work to stop it by putting a mean little sticker every single time it a) won't work and b) puts a load of bad energy into the world. Also you actually don't know the truth of every single car's predicament (I'm thinking of the time somebody had a go at me for parking in a contentious spot when I was actually pulling over because I had a puncture and had no idea about the parking history).

I think I'd try to find out whichever part of the council is responsible for it and try to get something systematic put in place instead. Doing it one car at a time won't work anyway.

We don’t even live anywhere beautiful, we live in a shithole area and any bit of grass verge is parked on and churned up.

A local street which has a sliver of grass and a lovely line of trees is destroyed by tarmac because people want drives. And the rest of the area is swamped twice a day by parents who can’t let their secondary school darlings walk more than 20 yards. Again, the few bits of nice green grass we have get churned up by people who just don’t care where they park as long as it’s as near as possible.

It’s the way of the world now op - it is sad that people don’t respect nature and beauty as they find it - convenience and self interest is more important.

I wouldn’t waste your time with stickers. If they’re transient visitors it won’t solve the problem. Just sigh and think it could be worse - at least you don’t live in a shit hole like me.

We have a ‘sticker wanker’ where I live.

We have communal parking at the back of our house (not marked out, but can usually get 4 cars parked in each area). My son parked his car a few weeks ago and because the car next to him had taken up too much space, once they moved, it looked like my son had parked and taken up too much space. This meant that only 3 cars could park and not 4.

The following day a sticker wanker had put a rude sticker on his car, but they put it on the rubber part between his doors (he has a C1). It’s been a nightmare to get off.

Let’s just say that the wanker who put the sticker on his car won’t be doing it again, when I find out who did it.

You’d go to the expense of buying stickers and waste your time putting them on the cars? If a driver caught you and confronted you what would your reaction be? What if they accused you of damaging the vehicle?
I really don’t think I would waste my time.

Yes I agreed inconsiderate parking is annoying and sometime dangerous. I don’t think it’s reasonable to start stickering cars though. I’d just think what a wanker and drive on
