Is this a shine on the fabric or actually a nipple?

Can't decide, but if it's just the way the material is shining, did no one at Debenhams think to re take the photo?!

Shine.

ProblemStarbuckshabit · 10/06/2026 23:50

I think its like one of those trick pictures you can see two ways. When I first saw it I thought just the shine but now you mention it I can't un-see the nipple! 😂

50sandFabulous · 10/06/2026 17:54

How is no one (bar one other poster) seeing this?! Her right boob looks bare. 😐

I'm with you! I logically know it's not nipple but on my phone it just looks so overwhelmingly nipple, I can't not see it. Terrible photo!

AltitudeCheck · 11/06/2026 06:39

Debenhams have added a disclaimer 😂

⚠COLOR DISCLAIMER: Your screen brightness, contrast, and saturation settings will affect the image viewed on your screen.

Ps. I also saw a one in/ one out situation on 1st glance!

Honeyhonay · 11/06/2026 06:42

It doesn’t look see through at all.

How could it be a nipple when she is wearing a bikini top? Are you implying they cut a hole in the top?

or are you subscribing to the ridiculous notion that women’s nipples should not be visible through their clothing?

The notion that women's nipples should not be seen through their clothing is ridiculous? Eh? Who wants their nipples on display? I would be highly embarrassed if mine were. That's partly why we wear bras, in addition to controlling the mad jiggling.

I thought not wanting all and sundry to see visible nipple outline was universal and accepted! First time I've ever heard it called ridiculous. Just the same as I wouldn't want anyone to see the contours of my, um, swimsuit area.

Thebigonesgetaway · 11/06/2026 07:28

Good grief, yes op, one cup is transparent the other is opaque. Thays how they designed it.

or maybe it’s just obviously shine.

BleedinglyObvious · 10/06/2026 22:20

What if you were on a beach and men thought you were wearing a cupless bikini?

So what?!

What have men got to do with it.

for what it’s worth OP I saw the shine. Then reading through I looked again and can kinda see what you mean. It’s a trick of the light.

but I’m sure as she moves and the light changes it would not look like a nipple/areola

ProblemStarbuckshabit · 11/06/2026 08:16

Needless to say I won't be buying this bikini ...even though it is just a trick of the light 😂

They wouldn't though, because the reflection isn't fixed; it moves with the person and light. And in the flesh it would be very obvious this was a metallic bikini.

But in any case so what if they did? It's of no importance what men think of a woman's clothing choices, especially as they're not bothering to hide their own nipples.

BleedinglyObvious · 11/06/2026 12:43

@Littledidsheknow , your username seems appropriate.
Many of us would not want to be gawped at when walking down a beach.
You do you.

Why is a female nipple SO SHOCKING?
Op, if you are a woman, pleaae consider if you have repressed your attraction to other women.

I remember mesh tops, spandex jersey tops with or without smoothfit bras, and unlined broderie anglaise dresses in the 90s/00s. Nipplage was normal. Nobody died.

90s fashions are coming back in. If only real feminism would, too.

FFS. A nipple isn't shocking. I have my own. 🙄What did shock me, is that I thought I was looking at a bikini top that had one side completely transparent.

And I was around in the 90's. The fashion was never to wear a mesh top with no bra. I do remember seeing one colleague try to pull off that look at a works party and many eyebrows were raised. It just screams "Men, look at meeeee"

First question still stands.

I do not find it more remarkable than all the cutouts in dresses. Maybe pornified. Probably more comfortable than boob tape.

Let us just hope vividly coloured thongs above low rise jeans do not come back in. (I liked my fuchsia pink one at the time.)

TutTutTutSigh · 11/06/2026 21:03

I don't think OP is clutching her pearls at a nipple, but pointing out the unfortunate optical illusion that makes the model look like her full boob and nipple is out 😅

Thebigonesgetaway · 11/06/2026 21:28

Actually I can see it now, it’s not the nipple it does actually look like one side is transparent, I clicked on it again and thought, oh! 😂

The first time I heard of someone worrying about the shape of her nipples showing through their shirt was the mid 90s and we all thought it was an odd thing to spend time worrying about.

I really don’t know the point in time women started being ashamed of their nipples again, but it’s fairly recent.

LochLoughton · 11/06/2026 23:32

Obviously just reflections/shadow on a metallic garment. I think you're slightly bonkers to even notice this... or perhaps a troll?

LadyGAgain · 11/06/2026 23:35

Shine. But it’s not a well done image and I wouldn’t be buying one!

Pugsrock · 12/06/2026 04:04

I wouldn't worry any way..........it's sold out!

Conchiglie · 12/06/2026 04:09

This is so weird! I clicked on it once and couldn't see what the OP meant at all. Then I clicked again after reading the comments and now I see it the same way as the OP! Strange!

k1233 · 12/06/2026 04:52

@50sandFabulous my only thought wasxat least she didn't have a similar dark spot on the picture of her backside...

JaneJeffer · 12/06/2026 09:06

Jk987 · 10/06/2026 21:28

Don’t know but I wish I looked like that in a shiny gold bikini!

It doesn’t matter what you look like in it because the sun glaring off it will prevent anyone from seeing you properly!

Just shine. I wouldn't have given it any thought if I'd seen the photo without your comment.
