Aibu to love all the cool fashion atm? So many baggy pants with oversized shirts, with ballet shoes or flip flops, Adidas shorts with shirts…it just feels more creative and messy and like you could pair bits together and not have to look ‘Done’ I love it

I also love the fact that I can be deliberately nerdy if I want to, socks with shoes, knee length shorts, all just a bit different

You can be as nerdy as you like, wear baggy and oversized or whatever, whenever you feel like it OP
You don't need to do it just when other people are doing it for heavens sake.

Yes obviously!

I’m just enjoying it all 😔

I admit to liking certain fabrics and designs and styles. And have preferences to what I like to wear and what I would like to wear if I could afford it. But I don't relate at all to "enjoying" fashion.
I hate the obsession that so many people have with looks and clothes. I find the Style and Beauty board on MN really depressing and horrible.

takealettermsjones · 06/06/2026 00:04

I understand you OP, and I agree! I like this style and I mostly wear whatever I want regardless of fashion but I enjoy it when my likes do come back into fashion as it means two things: more options in shops, and more compliments!

beasmithwentworth · 06/06/2026 00:04

Op I’m all over baggy. My two teens are also baggy vibes and it makes me wish I was in sixth form again

beasmithwentworth · 06/06/2026 00:07

@AnonymityAnonymity I wouldn’t say I am a huge enjoyer of fashion, but I think most people get some sort of pleasure out of wearing a certain style as they feel happier when they wear it?

MJFEB2026 · 06/06/2026 00:27

I miss tailoring and high heels!

Okiedokie123 · 06/06/2026 00:55

Yabu. Wear what you like whenever you want to.
If I like it I wear it. Especially if it’s comfy. Whether it’s fashionable or not!

AnAutumnCrow · 06/06/2026 00:59

Oh, are we back to Annie Hall again?

I like the idea of socks-more comfortable feet! I got on board with the socks over leggings thing a few years ago. But my miserable Millennial thing about socks with shorts/skirts dresses-I worry about looking "wrong" at work, because I'm over 40 now, and you just didn't see socks. Bare legs, tights, maybe tiny ankle socks.
Seriously, while I don't care out of work, would I be seen as less professional with crew socks on show?
The baggy trousers (or flared, or any) is fine, and I did always wear socks with them.
But when you get baggy caught on something/it's wet and windy, then I want my leggings or even skinnies back!

I def don’t 🤣 Even in my teens in the 90’s I loved baggy and big denim shirts and shirts tied around the waist. I loved a body with them, so fitted on top or a crop top, but hated heels really, even though I wore for a few years with dresses

The thought of skinnies now makes me feel a bit sick 😂occasionally wear leggings though

I like the loose trousers that are everywhere. I've been wearing loose trousers for years though, so I'm only fashionable now by accident.
Same with leopard and tiger print- been wearing it since the 90s, accidentally in fashion now.

I’m not a fan of animal print but loving the (very) loose look

I absolutely love the fashion right now and think I might have been waiting my whole life for barrel leg jeans. It’d be a cold day in hell before I wear ballet flats though.

Agreed. I love all the dresses.

As a more "generously proportioned" woman, I now know that oversized and baggy does me no favours but I did enjoy the cycling shorts and generous sweatshirts back in the 90s (possibly the only thing I ever had in common with Princess Diana!).

But that’s the beauty of it, I love the almost odd mix of it all and it’s all so comfy

Why no to the ballet flats?

I just think they’re frumpy and dreary and impossible to look good in.

SmotherhoodandApplePie · 06/06/2026 11:39

I've always been baggy OP. Always will be. I didn't own a bra til my 40s and my tits started to resemble a spaniels ears.

Even with a more tailored, French look?
