to think the water companies need to buck their ideas up

SE water failures yet again. Even had the temerity to write to customers to tell them to be extra careful with their usage. I come under Anglian Water and we had three burst pipes in this part of Essex last week . I heard that my hairdresser had to empty her emersion tank so she could wash clients hair. She couldnt rebook because she is fully booked. Bad enough there is an aversion to air con in this country but now we are begrudged running water in a heatwave too.

No it's unlikely they would have got a bill, we tie ourselves in knots to avoid bad publicity. We've had customers contaminate their own and neighbours pipework tipping motor oil into road drains, and we paid them all compensation for the fact we had to turn their water off for a day to replace all the contaminated pipes.

The Water Companies have taken and distributed any profits without investing in infrastructure. Sometimes they have applied to build reservoirs but NIMBYs have blocked the planning.

There's been water ads on here.
Population growing... Causes problems with electric and water and presumably every service humans need.

Too many people.
Stop building more homes and stop importing people.

What would really inconvenience them is jail time for crimes against nature. We need to start holding decision makers accountable for real. If you can’t take the heat - get out of the kitchen!

Theres something boring but fundamental that needs to change. Water company boards should be legally compelled to prioritise infrastructure investment and be restructured to be not for private profit, with a restriction on board level salaries.

What are they doing if not infrastructure?

Don’t rly mind people getting paid loads of money if their good at their job but if they flush sewage out in rivers and on the coast they should go to jail. but maybe after a warnimg first

The water companies are supposed to have been overseen by a regulator who is supposed to have ensured profits were invested in infrastructure not paid out en masse. I blame the water companies but the regulator too for letting them get away with it.

Im pretty sure the country has been pumping raw sewage into waterways forever, but we haven’t been monitoring water quality to the same extent in the past. It’s like how Scotland claims to have much cleaner water than England, while totally overlooking the fact that water quality monitoring is far lower in Scotland.

If you have ever been to Scotland you can see with ur own eyes it’s cleaner and it smells cleaner. Less floating turds too!

The regulators are feckin useless .!!
