To delay Mirena Coil fitting - because of upcoming event?

I’m due to get a Mirena fitting next week. 10 days later I have a big family wedding to attend for a weekend.

Reading lots about spotting, and heavier bleeding for weeks after insertion, I’m wondering whether to delay a month as I really could do without that over that weekend as I can be a really heavy bleeder and my dresses are all very pale!

Currently, wedding should fall mid cycle - all being regular.

Just an update. Had it in 5 days ago. Actual insertion was uncomfortable but only for a few seconds.

Only lightly spotting here and there, but suffering with cramps!

Mild cramps for the hours following. Barely any cramps day 1&2 and then day 3 a few hours of really bad period style cramps, pain into my legs, had to have a little lie down but ibuprofen sorted it. Bit bloated. Then again day 4, less in the legs. Sorted with ibuprofen.
and now say 5, again, different, less traditionally wavey cramps, more just a tight draggy constant pain, and took ibuprofen, paracetamol and buscopan to sort.. plus a long lie down.

Really hope the cramps settle as have a very busy few work weeks ahead. If they continue or get worse will speak to GP. And obviously any feeling ill or temperature with pain I will go to A&E.
Can feel the string so think its still in place.

Anyone else have this much cramps?
GP did say to expect cramps etc for a few weeks. I just didnt think they’d be this strong.

Yes I remember cramps at the start, I don’t think anything to worry about. By the 2nd month I didn’t notice anything at all

I think it only lasted a week like a period would but by the next month I didn’t notice. I hope it’s short lived for you x
