Unable to open windows as people back of me smoking cannabis. Selfish *****

During hot weather, I open my windows before the sun hits it.

Came back from shopping and the direction of the windows I was planning to open, people in the garden on the other side of the wall are smoking cannabis. Oh great! I don’t want to have the smell of that vile stuff wafting in my home. I’m sure the varieties used now are more pungent. As my ex smoked it and the smell didn’t affect me

This. The UK is very backwards in this regard. Legalising cannabis eliminates or shrinks the harmful black market, and means that on a medical and social level, it's much less harmful than alcohol.

Legalisation also provides easy, safe access to edibles, vaporisers, and other less stinky methods of consuming weed, which might mean fewer people have to smell it wafting over from the neighbours!

I don't think it smells bad, but I imagine it is irritating to have it drifting into your house when you live so close to the neighbours.

Us too. If they want to smoke it they should do so inside their property. Why should we have have to put up with it?

You would be surprised how far it travels! I can recognise the disgusting smell in the air, even when I'm walking along the street etc

I have a ridiculously acute sense of smell-I am continually saying, “I can smell weed!” Or “Has someone farted?”

I sympathise OP .We have a similar problem here .I doubt police would be interested anyway ,although it would never occur to me to report someone smoking weed .We dont open the windows all the time even in summer .A fan will work well

It stinks, it lingers, its worse than normal cigarettes, its anti-social to inflict this on neighbours. OP needs to escalate this as far as possible. No-one should be forced to endure someone elses weed.

I highly doubt it’s the same stuff you were smoking back then, you’d probably have a hell of a shock if you tried the stuff they are smoking now.

I've tried it every now and then and it hits me like a sledge hammer. Very good value. Like you would get it Amsterdam back in the day.

it smells rank and it’s such a strong pungent smell. It’s different to how it smelt a few decades ago and I really don’t think that my sence of smell has changed.
Maybe the smell of a compost heap or big pile of manure would mask the smell and dissuade them from sitting there. Tbh I think I’d prefer the smell of manure to that vomit smell of weed.

Someone complaining on a local FB group was told that what they were smelling might not actually be weed. There’s a particular shrub that gives off a weedy-like pong when the sun hits it (apparently).
