To think that the Green Party represent a threat to the safety of British Jews.

No. I think the actions of the Israeli government are threatening the safety of Jews worldwide.

I am Jewish. I voted Green today.

There’s a reason the phrase “turkeys voting for Christmas” exists…

This thread again?! I’m sure we’ve had this several times already haven’t we? Or it just feels like that 🤔

Why are you questioning it.
I take it you are not Jewish so it doesn’t affect you and you don’t care.

Oh come on. If British citizens are believed to be responsible for the actions of a government thousands of miles away they didn’t vote for something is seriously wrong. Wrong with the people who believe such a stupid thing. Just as stupid as people justifying Islamophobia referencing the Taliban or Boko Haram.

Wheresrebeccabunch · 07/05/2026 18:13

Quite right, I live in North London with a big Jewish community and all my Jewish friends, without exception, are of the same view.

Thanks for speaking against the rampant gaslighting that criticising the Israel government somehow makes you antisemitic.

💚

Yes sure you are.

I think - in fairness- there are a huge number of these threads at the moment. I wouldn’t have created this if I’d realised.
Having said that - if posters find it all a bit repetitive they can easily stop reading and switch to another topic.

In fairness though I could be wrong but you get a feel for the names of posters who blame anything and everything on Jews worldwide.

Yes - some people live in such a bubble that the most outrageous antisemitism has come to seem normal to them. They don’t recognise it anymore.

I think Zach Polanski needs to sit down and have a long hard think about why his instinctive reaction to the Golder’s Green incident was undertake all manner of mental gymnastics to criticise the police.

I am Jewish and I disagree with you. Diaspora Jews are not responsible for what the Israeli Government does. YABVU to vote for the Greens knowing that they have a number of antisemites on their ballot papers today.

🤣 “all my Jewish friends, without exception “

So predictable.
I mean how exceptional to have such a homogeneous group of Jewish friends that they all share the same opinion, especially on such a controversial topic. Quite unheard of really if you know anything about Jewish people 🤣

Wheresrebeccabunch · 07/05/2026 18:52

balabusta · 07/05/2026 18:21

No one ever said criticising Israeli government makes you antisemitic. Israelis do it all the time 😀

And anyway that's not what the op said.

Im still waiting for an explanation of the Holocaust. Was that the israeli government too?

I wasn’t responding to the OP, I was responding to a poster who said she was Jewish and supported the Greens, and was anti the Israeli government.

Your argument about the Holocaust I think is with another poster, I’m not sure what that refers to. So there’s no point waiting for an explanation on that from me.

I’m leaving this thread now to go and vote.

Nope. It was exactly that. The poster said that the israeli govt is responsible for antisemitism. Then you jumped in all happy with the typical anti semite whine that you can't criticise israel which blatantly untrue and used to shut down discussion of the very real problem of home grown antisemitism.

And your hordes of Jewish friends who apparently are all in lockstep with what is most certainly a fringe opinion in mainstream jewish society.

ThisNattyTurtle · 07/05/2026 19:00

So much abject nonsense. The Greens are the only party with a Jewish leader and the first for decades in the UK. The pro-Palestine/anti-genocide marches have a massive Jewish bloc at each one, including Na'amod, Jews for Justice for Palestine, Holocaust survivors and descendents such as Stephen Kapos and Juliet Stevenson, Orthodox Jewish Rabbis etc.

Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters have attacked far more Jews than any pro-Palestine supporters. British football clubs had, until recently, frankly anti-Semitic chants.

Israel is committing a genocide according to: the UN, MSF, Amnesty, Human Rights Watch, and the ISRAELI NGOs B'Tselem and Physicians for Human Rights Watch-Israel. Not to mention Professor Amos Goldstein (Holocaust and Genocide studies), Prof Omer Bartov, Dame Helena Kennedy.

Such absolute gas lighting rubbish.

You haven’t referred to a single one of the documented attacks on Jewish communities in the UK. Not one.
Instead most of your post is concerned with things that are happening in another country.
Yes - you are a committed Green supporter.

This is a genocide that our elected government in the UK is complicit in, in the opinion of Israeli NGO B'Tselem, MSF and the UN. You know the only other times MSF broke neutrality? Bosnia, the Congo and Rwanda. That's right, other genocides.

You know the mentally unwell man who stabbed 2 in Golders Green - when he escaped the psychiatric facility he was held in, he first attacked a Muslim man. But you won't hear that on the news for some reason.

The one gaslighting is the one mocking the fears of Jews due to the rising antisemitism and the shocking antisemitic statements of green party candidates. And I say this as someone who was a member of the green party in the 1990s

Some of your fellow Green supporters-

Tina Ion a Newcastle Green candidate who runs an account called The Real Anne Frank which refers to “Jewish Nazis” and mocks Jews

Sabine Maurer - a Clapham candidate who posted a man with a placard saying “ramming a synagogue isn’t antisemitism it’s revenge”

Saiqa Ali whoposted pictures of Hamas fighters with headline “Resistance is Freedom”

Never mind the comments from their leader Polanski and Mothin Ali the deputy leader ….

Jewish people receive EIGHT times as many attacks as the Muslim community ( per head of population)
So a Jewish person is 8 times as likely to be a victim of antisemitism as a Muslim is to be a victim of Islamaphobia .

Both are wrong- but you are misrepresenting the scale of antisemitism
