As this is a developing story it’s worth continuing here

This is a bizarre thing about the moderation here. Jews aren't allowed to say when someone is racist towards them. Others aren't allowed to say when someone is racist towards Jews. Pointing out other kinds of racism is fine though.

I have also seen posters who are openly racist towards Jews continue to post, with no moderation whatsoever. They do not even receive a temporary ban.

I know - it makes me wonder if MN bans anyone any longer apart from new people who present immediately as trolls.

You see the same regular users trot out antisemitic posts (several of which get deleted) or constantly derail threads about harm towards Jewish people, but no suspension. Whereas in the past I think they were stricter about the number of deleted posts before a suspension or ban.

More tolerance towards antisemitism or extreme political parties - not a good look for Mumsnet.

This article brought tears to my eyes.

What a fantastic guy.
Compare the weaselly ZP with that. This Iranian man saved lives. Zack on the other hand did the exact opposite, he stoked up tensions thus contributing to further endangering people. This man showed compassion across cultures and religions recognising each others humanity as a key common denominator.
Zack is abusing his reach and power to foster division and hatred for political gain. He disgusts me in the same way Trump and farage disgust me.

He's one of the good guys and was very brave.

Probably get criticised by some for trying to kick the attacker's arm 🙄

Police should not continue kicking a detainee. Ever. Definitely not in the head.

MR has stepped outside the rules for the police during purdah and should remain impartial. Not known a senior cop yet who wasn’t all for any party reducing tax on the wealthy.

No MR has police who need to deal with high risk situations such as potential exploding devices even if they are not armed. They need to do it on a busy street and one dime of us could be walking down. So no to this.

I agree, all three men are similar; populists, whipping up division because it's easy, it's a way to get power.

Don't forget how much of this is being driven by online mobbing. It's arguably a proportion of bots that may be involved too.

Anyone posting "all lives matter" after the murder of George Floyd (which I guess many thought this might echo) would have been cancelled as an unspeakable racist..

It's ok now though when it's a more unfavorable ethnicity for many of those same users.

https://nitter.net/OzKaterji/status/2051029856809263163#m the replies.

Essentially the greens are copying the far rights /MAGA playbook and backatcha for kicks.

The only different is ZP is a total wimp.

That's why he's riding on obvious issues eg Palestine and "police brutality"

100%

The posts defending ZP sound just like those who justified ICE killing Renée Nicole Macklin Good in Minnesota. Same tribal rhetoric and playbook. Anger prompts higher social media engagement than any other emotion so no wonder ZP doubled down. It could however backfire, even if I supported Green policies I'd be ashamed to be seen voting Green now and I'm sure there are many others that feel the same.

Yes, what a brave man. Just shows you how many decent folk there are out there.
People who court division and hatred should bear that in mind.

Yep, the Green voters are no different to the Trump voters, they just hate another set of people. I guess one thing which unites them is the misogyny embedded in both. How women can vote Green I literally have no idea.

"I am watching a clip of James O'Brien now. He is taking calls, largely from male callers with regional accents, many of whom have apparently served in the police. O'Brien is falling over himself to be sycophantic, and continually mentioning how he admires people who put themselves in harms way"

@Sheeled - Yeah, those bloody cops putting themselves in harms way every day to protect you and yours. Pricks.

Also, what's regional accents got to do with it? Your snobbery is showing love.

It cracks me up how anyone can not be embarrassed to be so stupid as to start criticising police dealing with an attacking nut job.
Do these people not live in the real world ffs.

I think anyone who criticises what the police have done here should all have their names entered into a raffle and their names pulled out to attend an incident and see what they'd do.

Sharon in Chichester? Congratulations, he's got an axe. Good luck! 😂

What are you on about?
Nobody was continuing to kick a detainee.
MR didn't break purdah rules his letter was not campaign material. He was correcting the dangerous false narrative that ZP was spreading and reminding ZP of his legal duty as the leader of a political party not to spread inaccurate information and racial division.
No idea what you ment by your comment on tax which is completely irrelevant to this discussion so I'm guessing just a random squirrel thrown in there

Indeed, it's easy to criticise from the comfort of your sofa, with no knowledge or personal experience of detaining a violent offender.

I wish people who were ignorant at least had the humility to learn, rather than criticise.

Cathandkin · 04/05/2026 15:30

I think it's worse than that.
It's a deflection. It's to turn the perpetrator into the victim. These people have shown little sympathy or concern for the victims of antisemitism.
I find it very sinister.

Lalgarh · 04/05/2026 16:54

DARVO

ThatCyanCat · 04/05/2026 17:17

Having had a quick look at the last few pages and seen absolutely nothing unexpected, I think it's all just further proof that wherever you look, whatever the subject, the priority is to deflect from and downplay antisemitism. Even if it means breaking ranks with the Dear Leader Tit Whisperer who was forced to apologise for what he said (although I think he's now trying to square it by saying he's only sorry he did it on social media? Twat) and absolutely insisting you can disarm a dangerous knifeman on a stabbing spree by astral projection or something.

Doesn't matter how silly the position is. Even if it's as daft as saying the Met Commissioner shouldn't speak publicly about it when public figures publicly talk nonsense about an event of great public interest. Absolutely anything except the antisemitism.

Makes sense; Mothin Ali is the fucking deputy and he wants people to sue his own party rather
than have them face consequences for antisemitism, so the
party clearly isn't the priority there either.
