When I signed up to run 31 miles in May for Marie Curie 😭 I’m so embarrassed, because it’s given me a £150 goal and I won’t hit that 😭😭😭

Just delete the post then.

Oh no! Odd that it posted automatically but can you just delete it? Also well done for running 31 miles, that’s so impressive!

It doesn’t let you!! I think it’s because it’s a charity challenge, you obviously have to try to fundraise. I was just going to share the link with my friends and family but they posted it 😭

The only option is to “hide” it, which means it won’t show when your profile is searched but it will still show on other people’s newsfeeds 😭

That’s so annoying. One of the reasons I hate social media. Why do these companies assume we want to be posting??? I’d comment on the post something about not feeling they need to donate or something and it will vanish from feeds fairly quickly. It does this when you change your profile picture too. I was mortified.

I mean, someone has seen it and donated.

it makes me a little scared as I’m taking on a big fundraising challenge next year and was going to post about that, but now I’m just going to look beggy and grabby aren’t I?!

will it allow you to change the audience of the post?

@ohnononoooooo I don't use Facebook

How does it get the information that you're doing it and how does it sort out the donation link?

I saw the ad on Facebook, signed up through there and then it automatically posted to my Facebook as I was logged in

These are the only options. When you click hide it says that it’ll only hide it from your actual profile.

I understand their reasoning as they’re giving away a free item, but it’s just annoying because I look very attention seeking now! I haven’t posted on Facebook in years

@ohnononoooooo if you did it through them then They probably just assume they can share it.

I was always told not to use Facebook because it gets into everything. I wouldn't sign up to anything through a social media platform for that reason.

Just deactivate your Facebook then

All charities have a minimum amount you have to raise for them. If you don't then you might have to pay it out or something. Just let it run.

This one isn’t a minimum amount because it’s not a marathon or anything, I was just shocked that it posted for me. I’m more worried that when I do want to use it to fundraise (I’m running a half marathon next year), people will look at my profile and think im a right grabby cow!

You could post a comment "Oops, this is embarrassing. Facebook has automatically posted this because I signed up for the Marie Curie challenge but I didn't mean to ask everyone to donate. 🤣"

I totally get it.

I'd post as above that you didn't know Facebook would post it for you.

I feel weirdly embarrassed that people have donated now 😭 like please stay away because it’s not even May yet 😭😭

I wouldn’t worry about it. People are so used to birthday fundraisers etc that they’ll donate if they want to and scroll on past if they don’t. I don’t think anyone will think negatively of you for having it on there and I definitely don’t think you’ll look bad for fundraising for something else soon after.

Oh god that’s annoying. I can’t believe they have posted hour your permission on your own profile

It just feels a bit, I don’t know 😭 especially because the half marathon I’ll be banging on about for months, because I need to raise £400!

You are over thinking it. Some people have already donated anyway so that's a good thing surely.

PullyDog · Today 22:31

Literally no one is going to think your grabby, stop over thinking it 😂

You ever seen it on someone elses page and thought it was grabby?

And at least people are donating which is nice!

No I just think the two right after one another is going to come off a bit beggy, like I never post and all of a sudden I’m posting twice in a row to ask for money 😭
