I have a mum friend and children go to same nursery. Meet up a few times outside, always chatting on what's app.

I messaged to say HB to her child and was told that she's having a birthday party with X,y and z. So I asked if my child was invited - and it was no.

I was also told that Ive got an invite to a whole nursery party so I've got that instead.

Why would you need to do anything? It doesnt sound like your life long friends or anything. What's the issue?

I kinda feel it weird a grown adult tells you they are having a party and you aren't invited. I didn't ask for that information. Just wished him happy birthday based on a status.

So I feel it a bit of a weird conversation.

To then say "well you are going to another party" kinda also weird.

It's precisely because she is a grown adult that she told you.

How could she have known you couldn't handle that info??

Since when do we go around and have parties, and tell people who aren't invited about those parties?

I don't know why she was telling me about the three parties she was having and who was invited. So I asked her if my child was invited.

I find it weird and I wouldn't tell someone about a party unless they were invited or there was a reason to tell them.

It's a "party" with 3 children. Her daughter's friends.

Maybe she thought you were adult enough to share her daughter's birthday plan without you be jealous of the 3 kids invited?

It is weird but I wouldn’t have asked outright if my child was invited (even if we were close) I’d wait to be invited
