For over 8 months we have done amazingly well together for 25 very interesting, very serious and very silly threads so far. She probably hired those people and that’s why she had the comments on. I’d say in return to the “rude, sad, bully no life” comments that yes, I am sad and will continue to be so all the time that woman succeeds in manipulating and coercing innocent, vulnerable people. However it is not rude to point out the truth and on the contrary I think it’s rather rude that anybody who is looking out for the best interests of the people she has blatantly lied to and conned out of their hard earned money, is accused of being a bully? How does that make sense?

Yes, that's a very good point about leaving the comments on for the first time because she knows she'll get lots of positives. It's all planned. The grift continues.

Having a look just now, the wording of many of the early comments suggest this was orchestrated. In the sense that the troops were rallied in advance to put out positive vibes. Another tell tale is Alice's comment too. Add to this, the very recent DM article. It all reeks of a veiled PR response to me.

I took the IG boots post as some sort of nod or reminder of the publication of OWH - remember me I do these long distance walker and I am rude and dismissive of all that I encounter en route.

Regarding OWH, back in the 90s DW and I did part of the C2C (we did Richmond to Robin Hoods Bay) and we walked through some beautiful countryside - we have fond memories of Danby Wiske and Ingleby Cross. I thought it would be interesting to see what SW writes about places on the C2C walk, but then I realised that was so pointless to contemplate. SW can use the Wainwright book, which provides the route East to West or vice versa, and the ideal stopping points. Indeed did SW really do the walk? I'm sure OWH will contain her usual drivel about headlands, wind etc. her patronising dismissal of other C2C walkers, and despising of locals who live on the route. btw - we always receive warm welcomes at all our overnight stays!

If OWH is ever published (and sadly I think it will be) I would like some enterprising film maker (like Nick Broomfield) do retrace on film SW's route and show locals photos of SW asking them have they ever seen this person? Did she pass through hear? Did she stay here?

I'm also watching the Scamanda TV programme and listening to Charlie Webster's podcast of the same name, both are utterly gripping. It seems like what Graydon Carter (the fomer editor of Vanity Fair) said is true "we are living in the age of the grifter"

Imo it's highly telling that Sal hasn't felt able to post a photo of herself or Moth for over a year on her IG feed. Almost as though she is still too embarrassed to show her face in public after OC's revelations.

It wouldn't surprise me if that happens sometime soon though. I sense the past few posts have been testing the waters, now with open comments on, gradually building up to her full emergence from under the stairs, aloof as if she's merely been away on a long walk.

Surely it can't be that difficult to put something anodyne on IG with a photo of her and Moth along the lines of "it's been a tough 12 months but we still enjoy taking Monty for walks on the beach" blah blah blah. Unless of course the last 12 months have taken a toll on her physically and mentally.

I've been in Waterstones, first time for a while - and I can't find them, any of the Raynor Winn books. They were in Local, Nature, and UK Travel ... and on the tables ... and .. I .. can't .. find .. one 😈

Once again the onlooker, the reader is being steered away from the reality of the Walkers and asked only to think of Raynor Winn. All the tumultuous emotions about hardship and bad luck belong to Raynor, as does your sympathy. A pair of boots can be a walker’s best friend. Self portrait of boots that belong to a scammer, I pity the boots. Speaking of pity, there clearly is none awarded to the grandparents or aunts and uncles who don’t seem to be included in this celebrated tight knit family.
@ThompsonTwin I agree, but if any such declaration about the last twelve months is made, she’s only got themselves to blame. Brass necks like theirs don’t even seem to be affected, so they’d have to pretend. They were willing to keep this illusion going for as long as possible with no qualms whatsoever. Her appearances at book festivals and the Gigspanner tour tell me everything I need to know about her gigantic ego.

I’m really surprised that we haven’t been treated to a guilt tripping update about Moth. Something like a photo of him asleep in a deck chair, mouth open and after an hour’s worth of floury Halloween make-up applied to his ruddy features in order to portray him as a husk of his former self.

The walking boots in the latest picture appear to be brand new. Presumably meant to convey 'fresh start', 'new walk in view' or similar. And she is wearing a friendship bracelet. Highly curated visuals in my view - I agree she is testing the waters.

I’ve only just seen your post Mulberry as I looked back to find the picture again. I agree with you. The relationship which was displayed in TSP was designed to conjure up and hammer home the “delightfully” naive aspect of Raynor Winn. Writing that their kids celebrated them both and had this incredibly mature outlook which just accepted and even shrugged off the loss of their home with a “Meh” and “Yay Mum and Dad!” along with not much of a response to Dad’s terminal illness, was a little suspicious but one might think that this could be a credible kind of denial and preference for positive affirmations. “Rowan Winn’s” excitement and enthusiasm for her mother’s manuscript was written in for a particular effect. Never written a book in her life and everyone must read this book, it’s so amazing. The reader is given the impression of a stack of papers tied up with string for Moth’s birthday. The idea was reinforced in every interview hence.
This scam would never have worked in the first place without the support of the literal supporting cast.

Anyone can see this is performative posturing. The boots have hardly been worn and SW has removed the laces to re-wax them - not needed anyway. She’s got 200 acres of land to roam around in but she’s barely left the house.

Yes, I think Alice's dog and Sally with boot. As everything is so symbolic, as highlighted by @TheBookShelf and @AgitatedGoose above - it could be seen as a deliberately collaborative publlicity stunt by The Team, following the DM exposure of the children's involvement in the business?

Looking at the IG boots post and the daughter's comments regarding "Team Walker" makes me think of SW's disingenuous posts refuting the confession letter, and that there is some comment about if the family has any concerns they can always raise it with her. For me that means the immediate family - the son and daughter. Not the extended family of TW's brothers and sister and the nephew and nieces. It is the lying, insular, toxic quartet.

And dear me! Those sycophantic, fawning comments for SW and "team Walker" I found utterly depressing that so many individuals refuse to accept that SW's 'our truth" is not The Truth.
