To buy this ski suit?

I am going skiing and although a pretty ‘normal’ dresser I do LOVE bright colours/retro on occasion.

Are these ski suits amazing, or am I in need of an intervention? I love this one and hovering over ‘checkout’!

YABU - you’ll look a dick
YANBU - you’ll look SO COOL!

Thank you!

I love it, but then again I lived through the shellsuit era so take that as you will...

I’m all for the all in one but that’s a bit full on for me.

Going to the loo is a massive faff when skiing anyway (why so many stairs??!!) so I wouldn’t let that put you off.

There’s a mountain restaurant in St Anton with a slide down to the toilets! I haven’t been there for ages, but DS is desperate to have a go on it so we may have to go back.

Tigerbalmshark · 07/03/2026 11:30

Anyway OP, yes looks great as long as you are under 50 go for it! I hope you will also be rocking some big hair over your headband.

Those of us over 50 would unfortunately look like they are still wearing the same ski suit they learned to ski in on a school trip to Morzine in 1987 🤣🤣🤣

I am just hoping the late 90s fake denim snowboard pants never come back into fashion.

Oh my, I need to go to that place! I guess must involve a lot stairs back up though?!

Well you’ll certainly be noticeable! If you like it, and you’ll get the use from it, do it!

Reportingfromwherever · 07/03/2026 12:13

It’s giving me Prue Leith vibes.

faerylights · 07/03/2026 12:20

You'll regret ordering an all-in-one when you need to go to the toilet! They are a real PITA.

Dave57 · 07/03/2026 12:25

Knowing someone who had to have a ski suit cut off them in an accident I would now be reluctant to spend that kind of money, but I suppose it depends if you would normally spend that on outerwear.

I saw some pictures of Sara Davis (Dragons Den) skiing over 1/2 term and she looked like she was wearing an Oosc suit. She wore it very well and looked fab even though I'm not a fan of the colours and design. Hot for a spring ski trip though!

I was just going to say about Sara Davies wearing one. I thought it looked awful and her sister looked so much better. It looks like you've dragged something out of your wardrobe that was last worn in the eighties.

Calliopespa · 07/03/2026 13:14

I want to be enthusiastic as ultimately its perfectly harmless, but I also feel I would be entirely not being honest if I didn't say that is categorically not the kind of thing I have seen anyone wearing when we've skied (usually twice a season since I was a small child).

No-one is going to arrest you, but it would definitely generate comments if we spotted you from the chairlift - and not complimentary! IME you would stick out like a sore thumb and would only have a hope of pulling it off with aplomb if you are a truly excellent skier (and even then, people might wonder what possessed you!)

You are unlikely to get anyone verbalising these thoughts though, so if you like to make a splash - and some people do, even if a little bit negative in order to get a reaction at all - then go for it.

But I cannot in all honesty say it falls within what I'd point you towards if advising you, and I say that as someone who has skied since early childhood.

My one caveat is we tend to go to the less "party-central" resorts, so that might skew things a little.

ETA I'd probably think you were German and liked 80's revival fashion.

joanofaardvark · 07/03/2026 13:19

Hey OP! I can't believe how awful people are being - then again this is AIBU!

I've skied and stayed in upmarket and down market places for decades and honestly, just wear what you enjoy! I can't bear the sneery 'I know the ski culture better than you' attitude.

So glad to see you have ordered it, wear what you want! I much prefer to see OOSC suits on the slopes than a) body con ski suits b) shiny tinfoil style jackets c) the Bogner ones that look a bit like motorbike racing jackets d) anything dull that looks like you were hiking in Wales in it last year.

On going to the loo, once you've undone your top bit and begin to lower it, tie the arms in front of you so they don't drop on the floor.

I find all in one comfier as you don't get snow or a breeze up your back and no feeling of loads of layers around your middle. And they're easier to go to the loo in than salopettes with a bib which are the worst of both worlds!

Enjoy your trip and your outfit, you'll have a ball!

dubbie · 07/03/2026 14:11

I'd think you'd found it in the attic in a box marked 1970s.

frightright · 07/03/2026 14:20

I love it and I’m glad you’ve bought it. I’d wear it! Iove the headband too. The bands are much better than hats because they keep your ears warm but your head doesn’t get too hot.
Bear in mind you’ll be wearing a helmet on the slopes. The headbands do tuck quite nicely under those too.

AutumnOcean · 07/03/2026 14:54

Love it!

deste · 07/03/2026 14:59

Im on a ski holiday now, second this year and you would look amazing. Go for it. What i will say is that its quite warm here in France just now compared to the start if the year.

Enrichetta · 07/03/2026 17:29

£300…… 😱
How many times would you even wear this.
And if you fall over, everyone will remember you.

Also very impractical.
Separates are way more convenient when you go to the loo.

I'd just get good quality black trousers and a not outrageously expensive colourful jacket.
The former will last years and you can replace the latter when you feel like it.
And spend the money you saved on some really good gloves.

deste · 10/03/2026 21:38

Who has the time to look at anyone else on the piste, so what if you fall, no-one would laugh at you. I would love to wear that all in one. Keeping warm is the most important thing so wear what you want.

Dogstar78 · 12/03/2026 07:14

I love it. I don't think it is too much. It is a bold pattern but the colours are not. I get what people are saying about all in one. However, I am always losing stuff so all in one is good for me.

Owly11 · 12/03/2026 07:16

I personally don't like it but wouldn't think anything of it whatsoever if I saw someone else wearing it. I could see that it looks nice and completely appropriate just not my taste.

deste · 12/03/2026 09:28

Really, how sad.

Well not really that sad. You are sitting on a chair suspended above a white backdrop with people making their way across it, so you look at them.

It would be a bit odd not to notice them. I mean I don't think many people close their eyes on a lift.

It is still fine for op to wear whatever she likes, but its just a bit pointless saying no-one will notice when a good chunk of ski-ing involves sitting suspended above a showcase of skiers.

And at lunch! Nothing better than sitting in a deckchair with a coffee at the bottom of a slope watching people coming down. Not to laugh, just because it is nice to watch.
