Unfriending right wing friends

nondrinker1985 · 16/02/2026 16:53

One of my school mum friends of around 10 years has started sharing loads of Restore Britain/Rupert Lowe posts.

I’m actually really shocked as she’s an Irish immigrant herself.

I’ve unfriended her which is a shame as day to day she’s ok. Also another mum who has been liking and commenting on the Restore Britain posts, they’ll probably tell me they’re not racist but I can’t be arsed calling them out.

So do you think the country which allows you to live and work in it, is not entitled to review and change their immigration rules and controls to benefit the actual citizens of the country?

We are talking about unfriending people with views like yours. You are entitled to your view, I just don't want you as my friend.

I found out someone I know voted Labour. I didn’t unfriend them but it’s hard not to question their judgement. I’m not sure what I’d do if I found out a friend voted Green.

They might end up with a nice pair of knockers 😅😅

Nope, 52% of the population didn't vote for Brexit. 52% of the people with the right to vote AND who could be bothered to show up to the ballot did. That's about 17+m people, so around 37% of the electorate at the time.

Edited

OK and more than voted to remain. That was less than 37% of the electorate then.

I suppose these days you would avoid lefties if you know what a woman is and want womens spaces, dont agree with child mutilation to change their sex, believe in democracy and elections, believe in young people in work, dont think paedo supporters should be US ambassadors, believe in a fair trial and juries, believe that the police should police without fear or favour, are against anti-semetism, support farmers, dont think politicians should be getting free stuff....

Ah, bless. 😂

So? Some people couldn’t be bothered to vote and that should make the democratic decision null and void. You either want to live in a democracy or you don’t. You can’t assume of those that didn’t vote would have voted remain

That’s a bit narrow minded, isn’t it? For a “tolerant” and “kind” left winger too...

Why is the assumption I’m a leftie because I don’t support Rupert Lowe? He is spouting off frightening stuff here is a list of some of the stuff he’s said - why I don’t want to be ‘friends’ with people like her

• Supports mass deportations of illegal migrants.
• Said family members of grooming gang offenders who “knew and said nothing” should also be deported as “just as guilty as the rapists.”
• Suggested pausing visas and foreign aid to Pakistan until deported offenders are taken back.
• Has posted comments linking immigration and sexual violence.
• Wants to end diversity programmes and fight what he calls “wokery.”
• Has supported abolishing the Scottish Parliament and Welsh Senedd.
• Suggested migrants could be sent to tent camps on a remote Scottish island as a deterrent.
• Criticised for joking about a “Jewish camera” (he said it was a joke).
• An independent review found credible evidence of harassment of two women.

Threads like this must be read by Russian and chinese intelligence with high fives all round. The psyops are working.

What Scottish Island?

Well you can say what you like about Yaxley Lennon but hes one of the few people of note who actually said anything publicly about Rhiannon Whytes horrific murder.
Not a peep out of Comrade Starmer and his bully boys. We've had Starmer and Jess "I will protect all females" Phillips apologising to Epstejns victims (??) yet not a peep about the British grooming gangs and the fact that most of the Labour MPs voting against a public enquiry!!

This feels like a mix of a lot of claims that aren’t actually connected. One person speaking publicly about a crime doesn’t mean others didn’t care or didn’t respond.

Also the Epstein apology point is being misrepresented. That apology was about how victims were treated by institutions, not defending Epstein.

Grooming gangs and violence against women have been publicly discussed many times by multiple governments and MPs across parties. Reducing a complex issue to “one side cares and the other doesn’t” isn’t really accurate or helpful.

You're not obliged to be friends with people whose politics you disagree with. It's choosing who you want to spend time with and hear from, not recruiting for a focus group.

The 'echo chamber' argument is a disingenuous one. I am not forcing myself to hang round with people I fundamentally disagree with to avoid accusations of arrogance or being termed a smug leftie, much as I wouldn't sit next to the guy in the park handing out the "Vaccines = 5G" leaflets.

he suggested migrants could be sent to “tented camps on a remote Scottish island” as a deterrent, but no particular island was identified in his comments.

I'm just saying that PP's statement is wrong. It isn't 52% of the population, but 52% of the ballots. I'm not making any assumptions either way about the people who didn't vote, for whatevwr reason.

I believe it’s because left wing people are often quite vocal in their self righteous intolerance of other views. Not saying this is you, but it’s why people probably assumed that.

YouHaveAnArse · 16/02/2026 21:18

Basquervill · 16/02/2026 17:54

There’s one huge elephant in the room here. It’s the fact the word racist is being used in a thoughtless way, and it’s now a thug type weapon to belittle people and discount their point of view immediately. This bullying attitude is completely unconscious to virtue signallers, it’s glaringly obvious to everyone else.

It's almost like it's more offensive now to be accused of racism than to actually say and do the things that are racist.

What a hippy-diddly crazy world.

Why are you fixated on her being Irish, yet when she mentioned ‘the Chinese kids’ that somehow got your ‘spidey senses’ up?!

I missed one....

Do I think we need immigration? Yes, the right kind. We have some fantastic doctors and consultants in the NHS who are non British. Do I think those doctors and consultants came in on dinghies? No. There is good immigration and bad immigration. We need a way to allow good immigration and block the bad immigration. That's not racist, that's sensible. It stops our services being abused.

this is agree with

we NEED immigration - the right kind!

Is liebour going to do this? nah they let all the boat people in

no wonder people want to vote reform or restore this time - the normal british people (and i class legal immigrants who arnt scrounging on benefits as such) - are fed up!

I don’t think it’s offensive to be called racist these days, it generally just means you’ve disagreed with a left wing person.

Vanderbilts · 16/02/2026 21:24

I don't like the boat crossings as much as the next person but you cannot deport UK citizens simply because they have foreign descent even if they've done horrific crimes. They are our responsibility.

Also a positive correlation between age and likelihood to vote Brexit.

i remember in the early 00s the govt were deciding on to reduce voting age to the same range as jury service.

If that was in place in June 2016 - we would have be in the EU

Yes you are right. So to go full circle back to what started this line of discussion (the person who would cut off Brexiters for their opinion) she would be cutting off around 37% of the adult population (we have learned) or about 65% if she would like to include people who were indifferent enough to Brexit to not bother voting.

Helen1625 · 16/02/2026 18:21

It's really quite interesting that the insults on this thread are all coming from the left. So far there's been c*, misogynist, fascist, racist, basically anyone who is not left is free game for an insult. The only ones who are showing an intolerance and bigoted narrow minded views so far are the left.

I might be considered right wing, particularly by a left winger.

I don't agree that men should share women's spaces - would I go out of my way to be rude to a man dressed as a woman? No.

Do I think it's acceptable for men to dress as women and access women's spaces? Also no.

Am I concerned about the people coming in on boats? Yes.

Do I think we should be housing them? No.

Am I alarmed about the number of sexual assaults carried out by these men? Yes.

I'm also alarmed by the amount of knife crime on our streets and I am fully aware that even indigenous Brits commit crimes and sexual assaults.

I hate them all equally.

Do I think grooming gangs should be investigated? Yes.

Do I think everyone involved in the cover up should be investigated, from the rich and famous to the police forces and councillors? Also yes.

Am I just an ordinary mom and wife who gets up, goes to work, feeds her family, pays ever increasing bills and is sick to the back teeth of this govt and any other govt who cares more about foreign affairs and giving money away whilst we struggle? Yes.

If that makes me right wing and therefore a racist or a fascist or any other 'ist', then quite frankly, I'll wear that badge. It's not even an insult anymore. It's just words used to silence by those jumping on a bandwagon thinking that they are on the 'correct' side.

Very good points, 100% agree with you.
