How are people finding this house on streetview? I can't find it.... Confused

I was quite taken with that bathroom.

Pale blue bathrooms really need to become fashionable again.

I'm hoping to find an old green bathroom to style as art deco.

But as everyone has said, how nice would the original looked with some Danish mid century furniture.

Much more appealing in the original state

Brunelofbrio · 15/02/2026 19:47

Are there really only 3 units in the kitchen? The pictures make it look tiny ( although clear from the floor plan it’s not.

GreenJellyBeans · 15/02/2026 19:49

B&M quality at John Lewis prices.

And what you’ve done to the gardens is horrifying!

You’ve made it significantly worse that it was before.

TheFormidableMrsC · 15/02/2026 19:49

Hi OP, goodness you’ve had some shit comments. So my opinion is the outside needs more kerb appeal, planters, hanging baskets, cheap and easy stuff that makes it look nice. I really like what you’ve done with the interior but it’s bare. Could you consider professional stagers as I think that would be a worthwhile investment. I don’t like the colour of the kitchen and the expense of changing that would put me off. A light wood or white would be better IMO. It’s an unusual looking house, I don’t know Swindon but the fact you’ve had to knock off the best part of £100k means some drastic action is needed. I hope you get your sale!

Ablondiebutagoody · 15/02/2026 19:44

I think that most people would prefer to buy the 2023 version and decorate to their own taste rather than pay extra for what you have done.

Absolutely this. Plus the house looks more airy, light and has more warmth than the current photos.

SeaDragon17 · 15/02/2026 19:50

You say extensively renovated and show cheaply flipped.

It’s awful and every bad decision is on show. You wanted an insta-dream and what you’ve done is thrown money away. Cut your losses and run. You are not making money on this house, you’ve categorically made it worse than when you bought it and the market hasn’t even risen to hide that.

RanchRat · 15/02/2026 19:50

I think there is a problem with putting bedrooms in the roof of a bungalow. It loses its USP and the roof bedrooms are rarely insulated enough to be warm in winter and cooler in summer.

Could you tell me how to find the streetview and the 2023 listing please? Smile

fashionqueen0123 · 15/02/2026 19:51

Does your husband realise that even if you get 400k he will have lost thousands due to paying that before plus stamp duty and the reno costs? I’m guessing no one lives in it so you’ll be paying council tax soon too. I think you need to knock atleast another 30k off so someone can redo the garden and reinstate half the kitchen which was taken out

A green Art Deco bathroom would be fabulous! What a shame these EAs advised the OP so badly, when you look at the original house.

Yes, I dislike this kind of thing too. (Roof bedrooms.) And they are so hard to furnish. Most can't have wardrobes in them.

It’s a bargain

TheFormidableMrsC · 15/02/2026 19:53

Also I’d get rid of all the grey.

Houseadvice26 · 15/02/2026 18:16

No but friends who have done similar have given the idea. They just say that planning can be lengthy due to the NIMBY effect.

It doesn't look like the sort of road where the other residents would welcome a HMO- it's mainly bungalows and possibly older owners?

NewHere83 · 15/02/2026 19:54

Ok so I think it looks really lovely, including the outside actually. You've smartened it up and made it monochrome, there's only so much you can do to a 70s bungalow. The market has been weird all year.

chipsticksmammy · 15/02/2026 19:55

Oh the original house is so much nicer and I don’t like any of the changes.

The current pictures are dreadful, the house needs furniture and staging. The garden needs maintenance and the front of the house needs lots of care.

123123again · 15/02/2026 19:56

It’s just a money making exercise. Op isn’t worried about it being a nice home for someone or getting enough her next house.
HMO indeed.

ProudCat · 15/02/2026 19:59

They didn't put the bedrooms in. The original listing in 2023 was for 4 bedrooms.

Look, spring is round the corner and you can sort the kerb appeal with pots and hanging baskets. Get some marigolds (the flowers, not the rubber gloves)

When you took out the hatch from the kitchen to living area (which was an ok thing to do), you seemed to lose sight of how an L-shaped lounge like that often gets used, i.e. dining by the hatch, sofas in the lounge. In other words, you need to break up that garage of a room a bit and make it look liveable.

Personally, I'd go to Ikea with a grand and see what I could do. I'd make sure I bought some curtains.

Scared80 · 15/02/2026 19:23

I think it’s a beautiful house overall, OP - love the panelling over the bed and the kitchen/flooring.

The only suggestions I could make would be to tidy up your front garden a little - so get rid of the weeds and maybe add some lovely flowers in pots - and also maybe add a bit of colour in the rooms to break up the grey a little bit.

But overall it’s a beautiful house and I can definitely see how much work has been put into it. Good luck! X

Are you OP's husband?
