To be concerned about Jamie Oliver's kitchen

I love Jamie. Wont hear a word against him

But I grow more and more 'concerned' (I like this word more and more these days, everyone has 'concerns' about something and this is mine) about his kitchen and his handling

Poor Jamie does not seem to have many bowls and spoons

He mashes up things on a wooden board with his hands

He scrunches things with his hands, no spoon available

He chops and bashes things with the wrong implements, like the bottom of a glass or something

Tonight he mashed potato on a chopping board and now scrunching up mince potato and carrot with his hands.

Then with his mincey hands he moves the bowl, touches this, touches that. No tea towels either.

Here he goes again right now, layering all his chopped veg on the worktop. Directly on it

No plates available again I see Jamie.

I love his minimalist approach. Makes all the difference for the washing up and for mass catering when you don’t want a bowl full of things to wash up mid entertaining.

And his food tastes amazing!

I questioned this the other day with the plum tomatoes, why would you squidge them when chopped tomatoes are usually the same price? (Im not sure I'm discerning enoygh to notice whether they were superior tomatoes that had been hand-squished, or b-list ones that were chopped)
However, I could potentially be persuaded to direct my DH to Jamie as he has a habit of using every bowl, plate, cup, spoon, utensil in the entire kitchen when he cooks! and not clearing or washing them up

I always think DH thinks hes a TV chef using all the bowls/utensils and imagining there are some unseen low paid minions who will do all the clearing up afterwards. TV shows should advertise the clearing up time as well!! 🤣

His recipe for vegetarian shepherd's pie was one of the worst dishes I've ever cooked. Sorry Jamie.

Me either. I wouldn't say that my kitchen is restaurant standard clean but I am not a messy cook and yes definitely about raw meat/fish.

His range of cookware from the early days was bloody brilliant. I’ve got two big salad bowls and a small saucepan that have been going strong for over 20 years.

He’s not having them back, I don’t care how poor he is.

Nothing he cooked tonight looked appetising 🤢 the only decent thing was his guest cook who made spinach daal and rice!

It was a good one though wasnt it. Ive got my eye on that. Looked very neat.

I've started using my hands to mix the oil into my roasted veg before it goes in the oven a la jamie oliver - much better results and uses less oil. He is a good cook with great ideas but shame how he appears to have dealt with creditors when his restaurants went bust...

His mouth is flabby and he spits on everything that he is tearing, smashing and scrunching up. Can’t watch him!

I'd pay not to.

I’ll be forever grateful,to him for his tips on the perfect roasties in the run up to Christmas. Never had so many compliments. Adore Jamie….
