Mumsnet bingo

Was in a restaurant tonight and heard a table of women laughing at Mumsnet, they were clearly a bit drunk and laughing talking about playing a game of Mumsnet bingo. We couldn't hear the full conversation but the top ones were - leave the bastard, didn't want to read and run, batshit, cheeky fucker.

Do people really read the site as some sort of joke? AIBU to wonder why you bother to read Mumsnet if you think so little of it?

What is a ," mumsnet type" ?

Their isn't one, for every teeny tiny with a high earning hubby with hobbies there's plenty more the complete opposite. It really does have a massive cross section of users.

I like MN, but I also find it ridiculous and worthy of taking the piss out of. They rip the piss out of Mumsnet over on Tattle, and it’s very funny.

Stop eves dropping in a restaurant don’t you have basic manners !

You do realise that some people just don't have any volume control?

So, as well as the special MN eyes that have absolutely no peripheral vision, we should now have special MN ears that can filter out loud people?

We were away recently in a hotel. There was a group of 4 people - maybe similar age to us, so 60s/70s and my god they were loud. We had to move into another room with our drinks. We also moved at breakfast as all we could hear were their booming voices. I could tell you the names of their pets, what fruit they last bought at the local supermarket, where they went on holiday last year, what tablets the doctor prescribed for them, and all sorts of other meaningless drivel that I had no interest in hearing about.

I wasn't eavesdropping - it was impossible to avoid.

I'm not the one without basic manners.

ETA - if we're playing MN bingo then I feel compelled to add that it was a very "naice" hotel :-)

And another bloody thing. ‘No’ isn’t actually a full sentence. It does not contain a finite verb.

‘No is a full answer’ is just about acceptable.

Maybe Pedants’ Corner beckons to me …

Off you trot.

TBH I got the impression they had a bit of a chip on their shoulder. I mean they weren't really Mumsnet types. The restaurant was tiny so we couldn't help listening to them. They were really throwing back the wine as well! They had two bottles.

2 whole bottles ???

Well, it might change a bit when equity investors are involved.

I think the equity investors might be in for a rude awakening.

Considering the amount of made up shite, especially last 8 months or so, yeah. It's a joke so yeah. Often reading for entertainment of seeing how many people get so so so outraged on obviously made up rage threads.
Then you have the over/under eating, over/under heating, over/under spending...
Noone has fear of being simply average like a musmnetter does😂

I come on this site legitimately however I do find myself laughing at some people’s posts or replies and there are some stereotypical replies and opinions.

Theda13 · 01/02/2026 15:58

It’s so easily done, to be fair.

Remember the famous MN salad and the feeding a family of four with one chicken for a month?

YachtMistress · 01/02/2026 16:03

Massive Fan for decades (it has changed over time).
MN is so many things to so many women, information, education, compassion, companionship, sounding board ...........ooooh and it has made me laugh until I cry x

Thesnailonthewhale · 01/02/2026 16:05

You all forgot the massive salad 🥗 🥗 🥗 🥗

TheAutumnCrow · 01/02/2026 16:06

MNers never put something in the oven. They bung or chuck. This takes literally no time at all, including all the prior chopping, slicing and mashing.

Then they do not merely eat their tiny portions - they chomp, munch or graze their delicious and nutritious food.

Two whole bottles for a table of women. Good grief, why didn’t you say. That’s totally knocking it back, and being a bit drunk. The lushes!

seriously, you need to stop listening to peoples conversations and watching what fhey consume . You can help it. Make conversation with your dining companions. Not sit in silence listening and watching others.

Honestly its weird and rude.

YachtMistress · 01/02/2026 16:11

Has anyone got ye olde link for the Korean woman thread? x

Thesnailonthewhale · 01/02/2026 16:12

They have 2 or 3, tall, slim and sporty kids, who have no interest in sweet food at all, because it was never limited or seen as a treat, as such they eat half a rolo on special occasions, but those kids also eat 24, made from scratch muffins at 10am Saturday, by 3 pm on Sunday, after scarfing down a snickers, a large McDonald's, double quarter pounder with cheese, chips and a large milkshake, apple pie and mcflurry for a mid morning snack... despite them never going to fast food joints as it's all just cardboard and rusty nails...

Oh they're all clever and good looking too, and will be excellent at their chosen sports.

Two whole bottles between 4-8 women.... So at most... 2 glasses each????

The HORROR.

Gosh that’s a bitter little post.

Ha ha. It's true though.

They somehow never eat junk, but also eat it by the cartload.

As is all the clever kids existing on Mumsnet...

Some woman even claimed that her daughter "and all her friends" all got all 9s at GCSE and it's really easy and very common for this result... despite only around 1000 candidates getting all 9s out of around 640,000 😂
