Due to start working in a private home with the children (currently work with other families and almost 30 years experience)
I had a quick nosey at the mums Sm and it’s full of stories about how the world is ran by satanic predators and they work in schools etc, also lots of religious stories and Youtube clips about satanic practices and how there’s pedophile men everywhere trying to kidnap kids etc, also about vaccines and how covid was fake.
It’s just really making me uncomfortable and I’m wondering whether to give this one a miss as the mum might be quite difficult/intense?

Well, yes, that's pretty obvious, isn't it?

Whenindoubthugitout · 24/01/2026 20:03

No no
jump right in
sounds fine

UncannyFanny · 24/01/2026 20:05

Sounds perfectly normal. What could possibly go wrong?

Id take the fact that she's posting it all over social media as a reason to run

Householdofcoughers · 24/01/2026 20:36

A few people think this way though, can I just do my job and not get involved

It’s in the stories

It'll be fine

Just watch out for the holy water sprayer at the door and the frisking

StMarie4me · 24/01/2026 22:03

Just no.

INX · 24/01/2026 22:04

Working as what in a private home with the children?

If you're a nanny I'd say run.

If you're a tutor or piano teacher or something then yes, maybe you can 'do your job and not get involved'.

Arlanymor · 24/01/2026 22:05

As a nanny? No. As a housekeeper? No.

As a tutor visiting the house a couple of times a week to give lessons? Yes.

UninitendedShark · 24/01/2026 22:07

Haven’t we had a poster on here before with this exact issue? Was looking after a disabled child 1:1 and the mother was some kind of religious/ conspiracy theorist nutter?

Anyway her social media sounds unhinged and I can’t see why she wouldn’t be unhinged in other areas of her life also. Go at your peril.

InterestedDad37 · 24/01/2026 22:08

Can you get fancy dress goat legs/hooves, and wear them to work on day 1?

Why?

Grapewrath · 24/01/2026 22:11

I mean if it was a shop and she had some weird views I’d be like meh…but it’s very bizarre she is looking for employees to work with her children and shares these views openly.
Thr satanic stuff is weird
The Covid and vaccines wouldn’t bother me at all.

InterestedDad37 · 24/01/2026 22:17

Householdofcoughers · 24/01/2026 22:09

Why?

The popular image of Satan is that he has goat legs and hooves. It was a jokey suggestion.

Flapjak · 24/01/2026 22:18

I would be a bit worried about what you might get accused of working with someone that holds quite extreme delusional beliefs

BlackCrowKing · 24/01/2026 22:19

I wouldn’t go within a country mile of that shitshow.

EmeraldShamrock000 · 24/01/2026 22:20

I would definitely not work for this family, they might sacrifice you for protection.

abracadabra1980 · 24/01/2026 22:23

You've 30 years experience - go with your gut.

PixieDust91 · 24/01/2026 22:23

So after all the evidence that has come out, you don't believe we have predators targeting children at school, you still believe covid happened naturally and no one, literally no one with powers we can't even imagine, had a say in it? You still think the vaccines were safe and the masks worked? There's doctors who testified they were told to lie about it all and they did, Fauci himself admitted to lying, yet you still chose to follow those lies and not even question them?

Interesting.

Ponoka7 · 24/01/2026 22:24

I mean there are pedophile men everywhere and the Christian faith believes that at any moment the devil can tempt us. There needs to be a sharing of values in your job role, surely? After 30 years you shouldn't need help with this.

Friendlygingercat · 24/01/2026 22:26

As with the other PP I would say it depends on what service you provide. If its personal like being a nanny or carer I would avoid. This is because you will be in intimate situations where very awkward discussions might arise. If you are a cleaner, tutor, or similar then it should be possible for you to do your work in a professional and detached way without becoming involved.

I have a friend of many years who had very strong political views which I oppose and we just tacitly agreed not to discuss that area.

Fuck me, aren’t you busy enough defending Donald Trump and his ICE goons on the other thread? Where’s your CAPS lock?
