Would you work for someone who believes these things?

Due to start working in a private home with the children (currently work with other families and almost 30 years experience)
I had a quick nosey at the mums Sm and it’s full of stories about how the world is ran by satanic predators and they work in schools etc, also lots of religious stories and Youtube clips about satanic practices and how there’s pedophile men everywhere trying to kidnap kids etc, also about vaccines and how covid was fake.
It’s just really making me uncomfortable and I’m wondering whether to give this one a miss as the mum might be quite difficult/intense?

From my experience with this type of person…
They aren’t able to talk about anything else!

INX · 24/01/2026 22:29

Are you going to tell us what you do for a living OP?

It might help.

SpicedAppleCake · 24/01/2026 22:29

You're going to work with children in the home of a woman who believes the world is full of devil worshippers hiding in plain sight looking to corrupt children. What could possibly go wrong?

Fuck me, aren’t you busy enough defending Donald Trump and his ICE goons on the other thread? Where’s your CAPS lock?

Get a life.

So after all the evidence that has come out, you don't believe we have predators targeting children at school, you still believe covid happened naturally and no one, literally no one with powers we can't even imagine, had a say in it? You still think the vaccines were safe and the masks worked? There's doctors who testified they were told to lie about it all and they did, Fauci himself admitted to lying, yet you still chose to follow those lies and not even question them?

Interesting.

I have a family member like this she has untreated psychosis. Trust me this woman will find something wrong with you in a week and get rid of you anyway. You will say the wrong thing or look at her the wrong way so you might as well just cut your losses now. Sad really

Householdofcoughers · 24/01/2026 22:48

I’m a piano teacher but will be in their home 3 x per week

If you don't want to work with her...don't!

This is a non problem for sure, her beliefs don't align with yours (not a crime). Let's use religion as an example...

Jehovah's Witnesses believe that only 144000 people will go to heaven. Christians believe that anyone can go to heaven as long as they accept Jesus Christ as the one true god. JW's hire Christians and Christians hire JW's.

It's really not that deep.

Give it a trial run. Don't judge the vibe yet.

Delighted to say I have one. Thanks for the directions though, always handy. 😘

3 hours per week? 3 times a week?
Most likely yes you can. And if you can't stop the lessons.

Thank you! The world has truly lost its mind in the year 2026 😂

RawBloomers · 25/01/2026 00:25

I thought you were a nanny or something in which case I would have said - not if you can possibly afford to turn it down.

But if you’re just in the home 3x a week for, what, 30 mins, an hour at a time, then I would probably take it. Would prep in advance what my position would be if she objects to any particular piece of music, though. And probably have a bit of a set piece ready about not talking politics/controversy for if she tried to proselytise.

Find it a bit odd you’re stalking her SM for a gig like that, is that standard?

Yeah I found that a bit odd too?

She's teaching the kids piano, not marrying into the family.

RueLepic · 25/01/2026 00:40

Just keep your mind on scales and Schubert and don’t show up wearing a face mask with 666 embroidered on it.

A few people think this way though, can I just do my job and not get involved

YOU CAN do that IF YOU want to you can always leave uf it's not right for you.

but I couldn't do it, so I'd just let her know tomorrow I'd had a change of plans & could no longer take the job.

EDIT: OH FFS. Should have finished reading the thread before I posted. I assumed you were a nanny. A piano teacher. Just bloody crack on & stop stalking potential clients.

ExpectZeroContext · 25/01/2026 00:47

Probably a mix of Reform voters and Daily Mail readers.. I'd give the job a wide berth for your own sanity.

Sadly some leaders in places have bad personal views. I choose to overlook them, and work for the sake of working.

But you will have to fit in with her mad narrative, as they're HER childrrn in HER home, and frankly it sounds deeply unhealthy. If you need the money, start the job, but look for another one ASAP. I pity the poor kids.

In that case I’d probably do it, as you will be there for an hour and leave, you won’t have an in loco parentis ready le.

Bit of an overreaction then! I assumed you were going to be a nanny or work for them full time. Just do your job, nod and smile. If she does become unreasonable then leave 🤷‍♀️

SilverPink · 25/01/2026 09:42

Make sure you turn up for your first day wearing an upside down cross
