What's the average age of a first time mum in your area?

What a snooty and stereotyping response!

It's true though

I was 28 when I had my first - probably on the younger side for my area but not strangely so. I was the youngest by a fair few years in my NCT class though - the next nearest mum in age to me was 35! I guess it depends where you go as well in terms of the impression you get- at least in my area, traditional soft plays seem to attract the younger mum crowd wheras the new trendy 'play cafe's' definitely attract an 'older' (30+) demographic.

I'd say early to mid 30s here. I had my first at 25, in my previous village that was totally the norm and most Mums in DCs class were a similar age. When DC moved schools to where I live now I was the youngest by a long way and I'd say most of the mothers in DC's class view me as a teen mum 😂 I was 30 when I had DC2 and I'm still on the younger side of her class but of a more similar and acceptable age.

Its not snooty: there’s a huge amount of data that backs this up. The more prosperous women are, the later they have children.

It's just stats. Not judgment, merely an accurate reflection of reality -maternal education and income are hugely significant when it comes to age of having a child.

Most mums at the reception class gate are in their 40s so I guess 34 to 38.

Not surprising given that a two bed house/flat is £350k+

Round here they would be the grandma. Although of course there are exceptions (I was one with third DS) most mums collecting from reception look to be early 20s.

Around here it’s a mix of early 30s and early 20s. I was 25 with first; 32 with my last (of 3).

Surrey, no degree, household income comfortably 6 figures.
