Me too. I can't sleep at all but feeling so tired! Reviewing my unsatisfactory day, thinking about tomorrow's to do list, wondering how to achieve my long term goals,

To top it off, I am co sleeping with a little one who is rotating constantly in their sleep so getting prodded at various intervals.

Lots of coffee tomorrow then.

Frog99 · 15/01/2026 01:29

Always a night owl usually down to pain and over thinking same, that's what Internet is for😂

JanuaryJasmine · 15/01/2026 01:35

There used to be a thread (or rather series of threads) on here that were a virtual tea/coffee shop/cafe. I don't know if they're still going, I haven't seen one in ages & can't remember what they were called 🙇🏻‍♀️🙇🏻‍♀️

A café sounds good @TheOpalFox , I'll buy the drinks. Hot chocolate for me, extra cream but no marshmallows, what would you like? And you too @Farticus101, @Frog99 and @JanuaryJasmine . A piece of flapjack too?

I am old, and I did laugh when I read recently that "old age is the balance of trying to stay awake during the day and trying to stay asleep at night." So true!

Anything particular worrying any of you that you want to talk about, or do you just want a general chat? I'm listening to a glorious combination of DH snoring gently, and one of our dogs having one of those muffled woofy dreams.

I did actually hear an owl earlier though, a female tawny owl hunting. I love listening to that.

scorpiogirly · 15/01/2026 01:39

I am but usually force myself to bed. Tonight night stayed up organising the living room. Got a fair but done, more to do tomorrow. Shattered now so will go to bed soon ready for the school run and work!

Thesofathatwas · 15/01/2026 01:46

Fucking twatting menopause insomnia.

Surviving on very very little sleep. It is utterly utterly crippling and exhausting.

After years and years of coping with zero sleep due to none sleeping children, now this.

I would likely make a very skilled serial killer (if I were so inclined) based on my through the night consumption of true crime programs.
I found myself rolling my eyes and calling a particularly nasty prolific serial killer an amateur for getting caught the other night! Pfffft!

Here I am. I’ve had a grand total of 2.5 hours sleep. I’ve got work tomorrow, school run and cannot foresee sleep coming again for me tonight.
Come 6pm today when I should be helping with homework and cooking dinner, loading the dishwasher and settling down to watch a good telly program, I’ll be a zombie.

IndigoIsMyFavouriteColour · 15/01/2026 01:49

I’m watching Runaway on Netflix but will force myself to sleep at about 2am

TheOpalFox · 15/01/2026 02:12

Then cranky and tired tomorrow !!!!

I think it’s better to sit up and do a crossword puzzle or something other than actively trying to sleep.
laying there staring at a blank space (too dark to make out silhouettes), is blooming awful.
i think negative thoughts if I do that.
So that’s why I try to distract myself.
if I’m still awake an hour later, then so be it.
id rather come to your cafe, than lay like a nervous wreck in my bed.

Toolatetochangemyname · 15/01/2026 02:34

New here, menopause insomnia and the rest and some side music of snoring

HelenaWaiting · 15/01/2026 02:41

Pneumonia following flu. My back is killing me. I keep falling asleep exhausted at 10 and waking up at 2 in the morning. My dog is snoring her head off which is kind of adding insult to injury.

Toolatetochangemyname · 15/01/2026 02:51

Am just over the lurgy, it’s horrible- what kind of dog do u have?

Any night owls?
StarlightLady · 15/01/2026 04:21

From time to time l have to get up in the middle of the night for video meetings with the southern hemisphere. I rarely get back off to sleep properly afterwards. I’d come to your cafe OP.

Neighull · 15/01/2026 04:29

I have backwards insomnia. Fall asleep in a snap, wake up at 4/5. Its like my body only wants 5 hours sleep

Toolatetochangemyname · 15/01/2026 04:35

Very cute and quite dignified 👍
See below for the opposite.. but still cute

Any night owls?
changednameagainobvs · 15/01/2026 04:37

I'm awake too. A combination of pain and overthinking keeping me awake. I can't get comfy and my cats are taking up over half the bed.

MulberryFresser · 15/01/2026 04:41

This is me most nights - I have a Cavapoo who is sleeping beautifully at my feet!

Oh I'd love a piece of flapjack too!

I'm fighting the urge to go & make a hot drink & have a biscuit! Big fud to health issues I do need to fight it! 🙇🏻‍♀️

i envy your snoring DH! I also envy you having him there & your dog! I find both help me sleep!

Lots on my mind which probably isn't helping, health condition is known to cause insomnia & I already had it before (possibly/probably partly the cause of it).

I like the owls too! My friend has had one the past few nights and she's threatening to do uncharitable things to it, she's not enjoying it at all!! (in reality, she wouldn't touch a feather on it and is much more likely to put out some food for it!)

It was! I had a different user name then. The only resin I stopped going to the cafe was because everyone was so great to talk to it was making my sleep even words!! 🙇🏻‍♀️

HelpMeGetThrough · 15/01/2026 04:48

Night owl here, not through overthinking, as I can park stuff like that. I have chronic plain with Rheumatoid Arthritis and it always decides I need painkillers at silly o’clock when it wakes me up. This week to top it off, my stomach has been really bad. I had emergency bowel surgery the end of last year and a tonne taken out. That decided this week to cause major stomach pain, so it’s been a perfect storm on my body.

I can’t even drink coffee at the moment, so I’m on Betty’s tea (how posh!! 🤣).

Still, I count my blessings, there are many worse off than me.
