AIBU to report neighbour

I’ve just heard the neighbour shout at her husband she also swore. (open window). We don’t speak

I’ve heard her shout before a while back, should I be concerned?

There are two older children in the household - one is school age but must be in their mid teens.

I had neighbours who were perfectly nice but the woman shouted at her children & partner often. To be fair, the house was too small for them so they were on top of each other and the landlord kept it in poor condition, I think it must have been really stressful.

It might not have been how I was brought up but I never saw or heard anything that sounded worrying - I come from a quiet family, some families are rowdy 🤷‍♂️

She is awful it’s not the first time I’ve heard her be sound so off with her husband and kids. Granted it’s been a while. I thought she sounded aggressive at worst or ‘rough’ to say the least and her husband and children might be struggling with it.

Sounded "rough"...? And her husband and kids "may be struggling with it" Do you literally have nothing to do in your own life? I'm genuinely baffled that this is of any actual concern to you.

Report for what and to who?

Ok my arse has been handed to me, as they say on here

I won’t be reporting anything to anyone.

Have a sense of perspective OP.

People are allowed to shout at each other. Even to swear at another.

What you SHOULD report is violence and/or abuse.

Can't you make a distinction?

First time i see 100% votes at 175 voters all saying yabu

Catdrama2 · 10/01/2026 17:42

Not even a single person voted yanbu. Of course now someone will just to be contrary! 😁

If there was physical fighting and arguing 24/7 then yes report to police they will involve social services if the kids are at risk. But sounds like they're just having a heated moment and shes had to raise her voice at him for not listening or doing something shes asked. Wouldnt say it was report worthy though.

Just out of curiosity though op. You weren't considering calling the police were you?

Neighbouradviceneeded · 10/01/2026 18:21

@K0OLA1D well I suppose it would be the police if it warranted it.

What did she shout???

If she shouted "I'm going to stab you with this kitchen knife I have in my hand" then I suggest calling the police.

If she shouted "You're a f*cking prick, you've put your red pants in with my white shirts and dyed them all pink" then just mind your own business.
