Traitors - Black Contestants - WARNING, SPOILERS! (Title edited by MNHQ)

SPOILER ALERT!!!

Time and time again black contestants are voted out early doors on reality show. The latest series of the traitors has been on for 2 days and 2 black women have already gone. I even checked the statistics with AI:

Black contestants are statistically eliminated earlier in some reality shows, particularly Survivorand Big Brother, a pattern that has been documented in studies and fan analyses, often attributed to systemic bias or strategic targeting, with discussions on the topic growing as diverse casting increases. While some instances involve clear gameplay, many viewers and players observe a recurring trend where Black individuals, especially women, are targeted in the early stages, leading to deep discussions about racism, privilege, and gameplay within these shows.

Isn’t it about time that protections were put in place on these shows, to make it a fair for all?

OP posts:

But isn’t everyone unconsciously biased in some way?

Watermelonsugar44 · 03/01/2026 09:46

Aren’t you just suggesting that some people have less worthy unconscious biases than others? Or some have the right ones and some the wrong ones? Who gets to decide what is right or wrong? They could have nothing to do with colour but more to do with age / class / job etc

itsthetea · 03/01/2026 09:46

There are degrees of bias - most people are strongly biased but some are much less - I scored a 2%bias towards women and I think the average score was well over 50% heavily towards men - so no one is perfect but it gives you some control

that was a long while ago and the research has probably advanced but something should be done where it can be

itsthetea · 03/01/2026 09:53

Unconscious bias tests Test for specific biases

in this case we are worried about racism and sexism so test for those

if the problem is caused because people are actually picking up on something else their racial bias score should be great

unconscious bias / an example is given by someone applying for a job using the same cv but just changing the name from John to Jane . John gets way more interviews. It’s pure sexism at work. Nothing to do with class or background because the CV only had that one word - name - difference. change Jane to Mohamed and you find he gets even fewer interviews - pure racism.

Once an episode has been aired of course people are going to discuss what has happened. If you don't watch when it is aired don't read the threads because if course they will include reverence to what has happened

Edited

Well luckily MN has decided that it is worth putting a spoiler alert on the title.

Handeyethingyowl · 03/01/2026 10:01

Interesting and I have thought this as well about previous series. Although I did think that the person voted out yesterday would make a good traitor. Possibly due to the editing.

miamo12 · 03/01/2026 10:01

Unfortunately it’s combination of unconscious bias by those in the dominant ethnic group and being overly pushy due to being perceived to be subject to bias. Overly sassy women get negativity towards them whatever their skin colour. Now i haven’t seen it yet and not sure if i will bother as didn’t enjoy last series (people now are applying with a game plan, I liked it when it was fresh) but previous series I did see elements of ganging up but it wasn’t just race related

Sorry, not sorry. And fyi there is no such thing as “unconcious bias”. People are entitled to own their own bias, based on their own beliefs and preferences, just as the OP has done. The casual use nowadays of such pretentious BS is simply a patronising means of adopting the moral high ground and silencing opposing views. It’s light entertainment fhs. Lighten up.

No such thing as unconscious bias? 😂 There’s engaging in thoughtful debate and then there’s just embarrassing yourself.

Would that not be the same of any country where the population is 83% insert colour? Don’t people inherently gravitate towards what they know?

No, not necessarily, eg some old colonial countries still highly value paler skin within the original peoples demographic. Look at use of skin lightening creams for example.

I think she’s basically saying she’s consciously biased against black people ‘due to her experiences and preferences’.

anyolddinosaur · 03/01/2026 10:44

I have a very conscious bias against virtue signalling woke people who think they are superior. Never watch this sort of show but if that sort of person is included I'm not surprised they get voted out. Are people being voted out for their skin colour or their behaviour?

tempnew · 03/01/2026 10:53

Hi OP, I have also noticed this pattern in Traitors, it keeps on happening.

Well neither of the people voted out so far this series have demonstrated any ‘virtue signalling, woke’ behaviour. I haven’t seen the previous series so can’t comment on those.

Interesting were they the only POC in the show?

spoiler alert for Irish traitors

Interesting were they the only POC in the show?

There were 3 POC in the Irish version. An American black male who was a faithful. He lasted very close to the end despite being hilariously bad at the game. Then the two black women who had both come to Ireland as asylum seekers when they were younger. They were faithfuls and won it with another female.

I think this is sn interesting debate and I have noticed it many times so I do wonder does the same pattern happen in other countries? I've seen the Irish traitors that has bucked the trend but I've not seen the Oz, American or NZ traitors. Anyone know if similar happens or is it unique to UK?

Why are you commenting if you never watch?

ContentedAlpaca · 03/01/2026 11:13

Going with the crowd makes sense to some extent. Traitors is very much a popularity contest first and foremost, so if someone looks guaranteed to be voted out then voting for them is sensible. They don't have to face that person again on the show, whereas if they go against the herd and vote for someone else, they have to figure out how to continue to socialise with them and they make themself a potential target.

Arcticienne · 03/01/2026 11:27

oops - I’ll happily take the well aimed hit for the ‘sorry, not sorry’. Sorry.

Arcticienne · 03/01/2026 11:32

…. and then there’s wallowing in perceived victimhood and bogus negativity 👀

ilovesooty · 03/01/2026 11:46

virtue signalling woke people🤣🤣

noblegiraffe · 03/01/2026 11:49

I think this is what they call rage-baiting.

So all of you complaining and being full of disgust and suspicion won't any longer watch the show? What am I thinking? All you're doing with patronising black people is making yourselves feel better, as well as keeping divisions going. Well done 👏

Is noticing that Labour consistently fails to vote for a woman leader patronising to women?

You're asking that question on a Labour dominated site 😆 🤣 ask the people who keep voting for them!
