Not looking for a new year new me kind of thing, unless thats what your doing. More like I want to do more of this and less of that.

Curate my social media and unfollow the irrelevant
Unsubscribe from endless company emails
Walk/move more
Lift weights
Maintain friendships/contact with people
Read more, scroll less
Purge all subscriptions for 12 months. There's enough free stuff out there
Declutter the house and sell on Vinted

I won a couples photoshoot which we booked for next summer, so losing weight for that. Going to be 40 this hear so I need to comes to terms with that and the direction my life is going.

Edited

It's a milestone. I think 40 - 50 is the key decade for securing health and hopefully wealth in retirement.

Getting a new job.

this year I’ve been hit, spat at, swore at, verbal abuse, coughed and sneezed on and infected with countless bugs, boss breaking employment law by not providing PPE and I’m not getting enough hours. The shifts are shit to fit other work around.

im done. Burnt out. Pisses off.

I’m getting a new job.

Not usually one for making NY resolutions, but this year have made just the one.
Enjoy buying cookery books, but don't use them enough, so going to cook a completely new recipe every week.
Not the most exciting resolution, but one I will keep to I think, and enjoy doing

This is one of mine too! Cooking new recipes from my many, many cookbooks…

LunchtimeNaps · 01/01/2026 00:59

Late year I had two. Give blood again and read books. I regularly give blood now it still haven't managed to start any of the many books I've got piling up next to my bed.

Sooo this year I'm gonna try the reading again and start doing my 10k steps a day becuase I let that slide in 2025.

Nanalovesnature · 01/01/2026 01:20

To stop getting food in the reduced section which is about to go past its sell by as we end up eating bizarre dinners which often aren't very nice and are more likely to be unhealthy than a sensible home cooked meal. It has become a compulsion for me to get a bargain and save a bit of money on my food bill but it isn't worth it.

AphroditesSeashell · 01/01/2026 01:25

Two years ago I resolved to book at least one 'thing' each month to look forward to. Main character vibes for 2024.
Gigs, theatre, readings, restaurants, weekends away.

For once in my life I followed through. By the February I had spent a small fortune buying tickets to things and makings bookings for the whole year ahead.

I hadn't considered the invitations that organically arose throughout the year.... It was exhausting. No resolutions since 😅

I'm doing a book a month for this year. No pressure and very achievable. If I read more I'll be an overachiever

Drink more wine
Do less housework
Spend more time dicking about on Mumsnet
Eat more cake

3rd year in a row I've made this resolution and I've never let myself down 👍

Well done!! 👏🏻

patooties · 01/01/2026 03:21

I’m not earing meat 4 days a week which will fundamentally change my meal planning approach, save money, make me healthier and make me use the cookery books I have gathering dust. I think I will eventually be veggie (had a horrible ‘I’m chewing a dead bird’ realisation recently).
No more fags (I don’t k is when I will start that. But in the next few weeks.
Read more & scroll less.

Sadsadthings · 01/01/2026 03:23

Use structure to help me be where I want to be in my life, both for myself and those around me.

Hephzibah64 · 01/01/2026 03:55

Clear out the clutter in my house.
Less Mumsnet, especially relationship threads, so many sad/bad dh threads that make me feel angry/sad.
Read more books.
Find a hobby.
Do less housework or at least be more assertive and delegate to the 4 other adults who live here too😁

shellyleppard · 01/01/2026 06:50

@Searchingforananswer2023 my addiction is Lego 🤣🤣

ShowMeTheSushi · 01/01/2026 07:07

Eat less.
Move more.
Declutter (starting with my brain).
Learn a new language (rolled over from 2025).

Tryingatleast · 01/01/2026 07:34

Change job by mid June, see family and friends more, get back to bring me x happy new year everyone x

thenewaveragebear1983 · 01/01/2026 07:58

Mine are : to run 1000kms
to do some new social things to make some likeminded friends- walking group, volunteering with an outdoor charity, etc
do something for charity for our 15yr anniversary

other than that, just the usual and all encompassing
”take better care of myself”- better food, better sleep, read more, less scrolling.

ProfessionalTeaDrinker · 01/01/2026 07:58

Pretty much the same as always - although I like to think that I chip away a bit more each year 😄
Read more and more variety
Less scrolling/social media/Mumsnet
Eat better
Improve fitness

pinesofrome · 01/01/2026 08:31

I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic in October so am going to give up sugar in the hope I can reverse it. I LOVE cake so this will be a huge challenge for me - wish me luck!! Also good luck to all of you with your own resolutions🤞.

Adelle79360 · 01/01/2026 10:25

3 years ago my New Year’s resolution was taking up a hobby, which I started and have continued with. I’d been feeling like I’d lost myself a bit with motherhood and a busy job. It is honestly the best thing I’ve ever done and I’m so proud of what I’ve achieved (it’s a sport and I’m overweight and never been sporty so progress is very slow but I’m doing it). This weekend I’m upgrading my equipment and so my resolution is just simply to keep going, and being committed to my coaching and practice.

I also want to say yes to things a bit more - sometimes I say no to social events because I just can’t be bothered but when I make the effort to go out I have a good time (I feel like I’m struggling to find the words to describe what I mean but you know when you feel happier and better in yourself because you’ve been out and had fun!).

The cost of food is crazy though

Last night, Hogmanay, I had some vegan fake chicken with spinach and hubby had chicken in breadcrumbs. Whole meal cost me £3 but what a miserable dinner for Hogmanay. It's not enjoyable, yes it saves me a bit of money but it is rubbish. I am going to do Veganuary and eat a lot of veg. Hubby refuses to have any meal without meat so I will still have to buy meat for 1 but I am going to try to stay way from the 'food about to go off" section.

Good luck. I was diagnosed prediabetic in May and have cut down on sugar and carbs but still sometimes failing miserably. Cake and chocolate are my downfall.
