Is still assault even if you were trying to get a item off the person rather than planning to assault them

OP posts:
PennyLaneisinmyheartandmysoul · 31/12/2025 17:48

Whose item is it and who are the people involved?

PennyLaneisinmyheartandmysoul · 31/12/2025 17:49

Oh and how aggressive were they?

itsthetea · 31/12/2025 17:51

Depend if the item was legally theirs or not to me

CastleCrasher · 31/12/2025 17:57

Need a lot more context - this could describe a mugging, a play on the rugby field or any number of other scenarios!

Gingernaut · 31/12/2025 17:59

A full description is needed with context, actions and intentions

There is so little information that is sound too vague to guess

Itsmetheflamingo · 31/12/2025 18:00

“Still assault”?! Why would it be assault at all?

surely the only people’s opinion that matters for this question is the CPS?

StressyMcStressFace · 31/12/2025 18:01

You are being unreasonable for not giving any context or relevant information and expecting everyone to say you are not being unreasonable!

TidyCyan · 31/12/2025 18:02

Don't know. If you were clinging onto something that belongs to your husband and he wrenched it off you then you are bad as each other. For example.

PennyLaneisinmyheartandmysoul · 31/12/2025 18:02

Could also be the context of “I was only trying to take their phone/wallet/watch.. didn’t mean to harm them”

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 31/12/2025 18:03

Was it a dog?

Notmyreality · 31/12/2025 18:04

Try adding some actual detail and then people might be able to comment with some degree of accuracy.

Dozer · 31/12/2025 18:04

‘Running at’ someone seems different to ‘trying to get an item off’ someone, since the latter implies use of hands. Please explain.

Nucleus · 31/12/2025 18:05

Was it your partner snatching your phone off you? Or had you got his phone and he wanted it back, but you refused to hand it over? Or a teenager wanting a phone you had removed?

What preceded the 'running at' and the accidental injury? Context is needed.

FFSToEverythingSince2020 · 31/12/2025 18:09

Really? Another thread from you with an annoyingly short OP that lacks all information? That’s two in 24 hours and you never responded in your last thread.

pictoosh · 31/12/2025 18:09

No idea what happened so it's impossible to say.

Serencwtch · 31/12/2025 18:11

Well if you were holding a gun & armed police ran at you to get the gun off you & injured your finger in the process then no, that wouldn't be assault.

Or were you shoplifting & the staff tried to stop you, you refused to give back the items so they tried to grab them from you & now you want to sue as you hurt your finger.

Or has your DH assaulted you & now he's sobered up & 'sorry' he's trying to make excuses.

Context is everything OP. Nobody can give you meaningful advice based on what you've posted.

Im annoyed now that I responded 😤

Millytante · 31/12/2025 18:17

Was this on the pitch during a rugby International?
If so, yes. Serious assault, and you should summon the police (and the local council noise abatement bods) without delay.

As a general rule though, running at people isn’t advised; and especially not in Marks’ on Boxing Day.

.

‘That finger is a paw, ma’am.’

ArseSkinForAFriend · 31/12/2025 18:21

Ridiculous lack of information OP.

Oh FFS I didn't know this.

I do wish MNHQ would ban these people or BOTS or whatever they are.

Either way they bring nothing to the forum.

As I was reading the OP I was trying to work out why it was familiar. You've solved it, thanks!

Maybe try finding a hobby next year OP.

Well this is a very late entry, but prime contender, for 'Vaguest Post of 2025' award.

UncannyFanny · 31/12/2025 19:01

I love all these threads with no context whatsoever buy expecting a direct response 😂

NeverDropYourMooncup · 31/12/2025 19:05

If somebody did that to you, yes, you were assaulted by them.

Are you safe now? Or are you being gaslighted into thinking that you deserved it?
