Why can’t my body clear warts?

HPVHELL · 23/12/2025 12:13

As a kid I had verrucas for years, which resisted freezing and all treatments. I finally got rid of them in my mid twenties, then foolishly went in a public swimming pool and now I’ve had three for almost five years.

I now think I have HPV in my throat.

I eat healthily, exercise, don’t smoke, don’t drink excessively, am a healthy weight… Why is my body refusing to clear this?

The only thing I can think of is that my job is quite stressful and sleep can be poor (young kids) but that hasn’t always been the case?

I was the same for many years then suddenly one day, my immune system kicked in and cleared them all and I've been fine for about 10 years. Not sure what I did to cause it but i think it was when I stopped trying to do anything about it that it eventually cleared up. The only thing which vaguely coincided was going for a paddle in the salty sea water on a spikey pebbly beach on the south coast. I don't normally believe in silly remedies but it was an unusual activity for me so maybe it was a shock to my immune system and got it going again!

The thing I’ve always thought cleared mine was a long holiday in a very hot place, with lots of sandy beaches and hot tiles to walk on!

I’ve had bloods taken for other things and the only issues were low folate and choline so I take supplements now, but nothing has changed.

Bit weird, but have you tried acupuncture? It can work

I haven’t but Google looks positive! Have you done this?

@HPVHELL, no, but a close friend did, was the only thing that worked for her

EddyNeddy · 23/12/2025 13:12

How is your health more generally? Do you struggle to clear coughs and colds? It might be worth getting a blood test to check your immune system.

I don’t particularly suffer with colds or coughs. Have had a few medical issues in the past but nothing chronic or ongoing.

I’ve had blood tests in the past (fertility issues) and nothing came up besides low folate and choline.

I have the same problem. I'm generally healthy same as you describe. Had a group of warts on my foot for about 15 years, this year they randomly went 😂 I still have a couple left though and nothing seems to clear them.

if you find a magic cure let me know! Drives me mad.

I’ve also got two tiny flat ones on my finger that I’ve had for well over a decade. In my teens I hacked one of the verrucas out with a knife but the rest still didn’t go!

It’s the lump popping up in my throat that’s upsetting me though…

I had an extremely persistent wart on my finger (down side of the nail bed). The only thing that worked and that I swear by is apple cider vinegar soaks.
Submerge the wart, for about half an hour. The area will be puffy and look gross. The wart will blacken. Keep doing it daily until it's gone!

Have you seen a doctor about the one I your throat? I would get that checked

StressedoutTeddy845 · 23/12/2025 14:27

I had a group of painful, deep warts on my foot for 15 years. Moved to a hot country with sandy beaches and they were cleared within 6 months. I don't know if it's the hot sand or the extra vitamin D. My job is extremely stressful still and I get very little sleep so that had nothing to with it.

HPVHELL · 23/12/2025 15:05

How long did it take? I struggle to get half an hour to myself every day but am willing to try anything at this point

I’d love to move countries to get rid of them (and suspect it’d work) but the family might take some convincing!

Yes I went today. Chinese GP actually. He said it wouldn’t be removed unless it’s there a very long time or starts to impact swallowing, but I need to boost my immune system - more (earlier) sleep, get more sunlight etc

Please get the one in your throat checked by a doctor or dentist ASAP. Oral cancers often present this way.

Leavesandthings · 23/12/2025 15:17

Re. The ACV I can't remember exactly because it was a few years ago, but I think I soaked for as long as I could (like 30 mins) daily for the first couple of weeks and then maybe reduced the time. And also put a drop of ACV cotton wool in a plaster on my finger overnight.
It might sting by the way! Shows your killing the bastard haha.
Seriously though, I recommended this to a friend who had a lot of veruccas on her foot that were making her embarrassed to wear sandals or get naked, and it worked for her too. Good luck!

How do you know you have HPV in your throat?

I'd be off to get the HPV vaccine tomorrow, privately.

TartanTwit · 23/12/2025 15:21

There was a TV programme I think it was called Embarrassing Bodies or something? A girl had persistent warts which actually indicated an immune system problem. I can't remember much more than that but I think it was on Channel Four with Dr Christian.

Just googled and thankfully mine aren’t as bad as hers! I’ve had my immune system checked before and nothing was abnormal.

I don’t think that’d make any difference now I’m infected

I think if you do some research, you'll find growing data that the vaccine can sometimes stimulate the immune system to clear lingering infections. That's what the doctor who stuck the vaccine in my arm told me anyway. Warts are neither here nor there, but HPV in the throat is not to be messed with. No idea how you know you have this though.

One of my kids had a huge number of warts. Over a hundred (yep awful). 50 or so on each hand.

no way could they be frozen off. And they were still multiplying. Even when we were into Y3.

I mentioned them to my nutritionist (I see her for support with an autoimmune disease). She is also a herbal specialist. She offered to treat them. Made up a Gawd damn awful tasting elexir which had to be taken morning and night.

However. In less than a fortnight they were gone. Completely. Almost overnight.
no signs they had ever been there (except misshapen nails)

freaky.

anyway. We saw the chiropodist yesterday who identified some warts and when I mentioned the previous warts and the treatment she recommended we get some more of it. Because if the herbs had worked the first time then likely to work this time. (Some people respond to the herbs and some don’t, was her experience).

so yes. We are off to the nutritionist again in the new year!!!

worth a consultation? We see (virtually) Frances Hambly at the Natural Pharmacy in Wadhurst. Worth an email anyway

I had a wart on the roof of my mouth. My dentist referred me to hospital and it was removed under GA by maxilo-facial surgeon and checked in the lab. Not sinister.

I would get a second opinion as I was told they should always be removed as they can increase in size and spread. That's what the dentist and consultant both said.
