Why can’t my body clear warts?

As a kid I had verrucas for years, which resisted freezing and all treatments. I finally got rid of them in my mid twenties, then foolishly went in a public swimming pool and now I’ve had three for almost five years.

I now think I have HPV in my throat.

I eat healthily, exercise, don’t smoke, don’t drink excessively, am a healthy weight… Why is my body refusing to clear this?

I had a wart on the roof of my mouth. My dentist referred me to hospital and it was removed under GA by maxilo-facial surgeon and checked in the lab. Not sinister.

I would get a second opinion as I was told they should always be removed as they can increase in size and spread. That's what the dentist and consultant both said.

Was it caused by HPV? How long ago was it removed?

The GP today said to give it a few weeks, which I will, but I plan to go back if it’s not gone or if it’s grown in January.

One of my kids had a huge number of warts. Over a hundred (yep awful). 50 or so on each hand.

no way could they be frozen off. And they were still multiplying. Even when we were into Y3.

I mentioned them to my nutritionist (I see her for support with an autoimmune disease). She is also a herbal specialist. She offered to treat them. Made up a Gawd damn awful tasting elexir which had to be taken morning and night.

However. In less than a fortnight they were gone. Completely. Almost overnight.
no signs they had ever been there (except misshapen nails)

freaky.

anyway. We saw the chiropodist yesterday who identified some warts and when I mentioned the previous warts and the treatment she recommended we get some more of it. Because if the herbs had worked the first time then likely to work this time. (Some people respond to the herbs and some don’t, was her experience).

so yes. We are off to the nutritionist again in the new year!!!

worth a consultation? We see (virtually) Frances Hambly at the Natural Pharmacy in Wadhurst. Worth an email anyway

This sounds like Chinese medicine? Do you remember how much it cost and how long did it take for them to return? Thank you

Yes it was an "oral papilloma"

Looked a bit like cauliflower 🤮
The thing is they said that it looked like that but they would only know for certain when they analysed it. The consultant didn't hesitate about removing it, didn't seem like a question iyswim.

It was about 7 years ago.
I was seen very quickly at maxilo-facial unit.
Consultant said they would normally do it with local anaesthetic but it was quite far back so she checked to see if I could tolerate it being prodded but I was gagging so she said will have to be general.

Dentist referred me, he was great and very reassuring.

Thank you, this is what I think mine was. How long ago was it and have you had problems with warts before? I am scared if I have it removed that it’ll return.

I have had a wart on my finger a couple of times but froze them off with otc freezing stuff. They went and didn't come back. That was about 20 years ago.

It was about 7 years ago when I had surgery. It hasn't come back. Both dentist and consultant were very sure it was a papilloma but said they would always remove and analyse to be sure.

Maybe the guidelines have changed since then but I would suggest asking dentist to take a look. It was my dentist who referred me.

I suffer with coldsores, they got worse when I went vegan for a few months, and then dramatically improved when I gave up refined sugar, alcohol and UPF. I think the worst culprit was my sweet tooth.

I also exercised and was a healthy weight the whole time.

I wonder, do you think cleaning up your diet and being very strict could help? Even if you trial it for a few months in the new year (0 sugar, 0 upf, 0 alcohol for 3 months)? In my own case, I wouldn't have guessed the sugar was the issue.

Hi, no it wasn’t Chinese medicine. Definitely western herbal medicine, possibly with a bit of homeopathy thrown in.

the warts on her hands have never returned. A few skin tags a year later, which went pretty quickly. And a couple of verrucas recently. (2 years later)
