Cottage cheese

Is it just me or does nobody else like the watery runny cottage cheese from most supermarket offerings? The only acceptable cottage cheese is Longley Farm.

I haven't seen Longley Farm cottage cheese since I moved away from the Yorkshire borders! Only their yoghurts get sold this far away.

My dogs like cottage cheese. Clearly, they're not as fussy as you lot, as they lap it up, even if it is supermarket stuff (though I do stir it with a spoon so that it's not got a watery top). The vet was a bit surprised that I gave it to them, but said that it's a very good source of protein!

Wait, is LF not available nationwide? In Yorkshire it's in all supermarkets I think.

You can also get the chive variety in Morrisons at least and direct from them so it's the retailers not LF who aren't making it.

The big tubs can be bought from Booths, work out quite a bit cheaper.

That Pays something cream cheese is sometimes in Lidl and Ocado have it. Lidl and Aldi cream cheese is better than Philadelphia, which I bought when on offer I Morrisons once (we are mostly an own brand or Aldi/Lidl house but sometimes buy the brand if on offer but for philadelphia at least, it's not worth shelling out for the brand).

<realises I have far too much to say about dairy products>

@Moanranger LF is thick, solid and creamy 10 per cent fat and has no water run off at all, it’s delicious on a jacket potato, I would be pleasantly surprised if Lidls was like this to be honest. LF available In Waitrose, food warehouse / Iceland and Asda as far as I know.

Lidl is nothing like Longley Farm. Neither is Graham's or Polish varieties as I've seen claimed on here.

LF cottage cheese is truly unique (and no I don't work for them either).

Sesma · 20/12/2025 20:33

I'm in Northamptonshire and it's available in Asda, Waitrose, M&S and the Beckworth Emporium

CalzoneOnLegs · 20/12/2025 20:37

@Bjorkdidit Thank you - I had a strong feeling LF is in a class of its own and there’s no point wasting money on others which will never compare.

ETA staff hopefully get a hefty discount

Coffeeblanketandabookplz · 20/12/2025 20:38

Lidls one is lovely and a nice thick mouse texture too. Recently bought a new Philadelphia one and it’s also a nice mouse texture. The watery baby boke textured ones are disgusting 🤢

I bought some from Waitrose last week

Our M&S have it as do Waitrose -

TruJay · 20/12/2025 20:42

I don’t eat it but DH does, I just read him this and he is in full agreement

Sesma · 20/12/2025 20:43

Home bargains used to sell it, I don't know if they still do

unsync · 20/12/2025 22:34

Ocado do a Polish one which is lovely.

GU24Mum · 21/12/2025 00:32

I’m ok with the M&S and Waitrose ones but the Sainsbury’s pot was pretty awful. Not nearly as bad as Graham’s which I then tried and felt stirred to write a review as it was so dreadful.

Esssa · 21/12/2025 10:22

Definitely agree has to be the full fat version. I'll have a look for the piatnica one though it's got a way to go to beat LF. Next question is who buys pineapple cottage cheese because that stuff is just wrong on all levels.

landlordhell · 21/12/2025 10:24

I would eat the pineapple one but don’t buy it.

MildlyAnnoyed · 21/12/2025 10:42

I only like cottage cheese with pineapple.

Sesma · 21/12/2025 11:20

I like the pineapple one best
