Asda Christmas delivery warning!

handmademitlove · 17/12/2025 14:38

I have just gone to amend my order for a delivery slot booked for next week (booked when Christmas slots opened in October!), only to find no trace of it on my account. The email confirmation link does not work either. I called them and they said the only way to fix it is for them to cancel the order and rebook it.... I am not filled with confidence that they will manage to do this given the slots have been sold out for weeks. If you have slots booked for Christmas, I suggest checking they still exist on your account!

Asda website is a mess. I only shop there for specific items i can't get elsewhere...and even that is a hit or miss if they arrive or not, after showing in stock all the time.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 17/12/2025 14:48

Asda home delivery is diabolical with the app, via the website and in actuality of delivery.
they may have done you a favour!

handmademitlove · 17/12/2025 14:59

I have had asda deliveries for years - rural living, special diet - best option unfortunately. I know that recent updates have been problematic but even for asda this is a new low!

😳😳😳

Luckily i dont have a christmas delivery booked, as i got an ocado discount voucher!!!

Asda are a pile of shite!!

Mossstitch · 17/12/2025 15:05

Get over to ocado, they released more dates. I've tried them all and they are the best. Got £350 shopping arriving later and only one substitution (one loaf of bread for a different one). And no they aren't dearer, they do price match with tesco and give you the difference in voucher form if tesco would have been cheaper. Some of the M & S basics are cheaper than anywhere else🤷‍♀️

damemaggiescurledupperlip · 17/12/2025 15:18

i’ve ordered my Turkey and trimmings from Ocado (all M&S) and I am starting to twitch … arriving Sunday….

GreenGreenGreenRed · 17/12/2025 15:47

I managed to find mine but the new app is so bad! It has a panic attack when I open it, and I miss the shopping lists so much too.

vanillalattes · 17/12/2025 15:52

As someone who had the misfortune of working for ASDA for years, I would, never use their home shopping service.

As PP says, they may have done you a favour!

gildurthegreen · 17/12/2025 16:03

Mine disappeared but is now back again, what a panic! Thanks OP for the warning.

climbintheback · 17/12/2025 16:08

Asda ewwwwh

nightcapers · 17/12/2025 16:11

I have had this issue too. I use Asda on a browser not the app and it tells me I have no orders and no regulars. However if I go via the link in my e-mail everything is there so you could try that.
It's an annoying blip I agree!

hyggetyggedotorg · 17/12/2025 16:11

I like certain Asda products but I only ever go to the shop.

I’ve had all sorts of disappointments with Asda deliveries over the years - from ridiculous substitutions, a large number of substitutions to every order for a month coming with damaged items. The final straw was they cancelled my delivery because there was “nobody home” on an afternoon where I’d been in the front garden for the entire delivery window 🙄.

I’d never trust them with anything as important as Christmas.

Me, anytime an opportunity to bash Aada comes up!!!!

Shite company who made their smart price line unavailable online during the pandemic

handmademitlove · 17/12/2025 16:15

So having waited an hour as they said, I still couldn't rebook - no surprise really. I am now waiting on a call back from a manager as the customer services advice to "just pick a different slot" did not go down well! Eventually he said they shouldn't have cancelled it and were very sorry but they now they can't do anything to fix it...

Fortunately I know how they can be so did all the non fresh stuff in my last order. Will now have to sort a click and collect and lose a morning to go fetch it. Contemplating how much of a "we're sorry gift voucher" would cover a morning of my time with all the kids off school to sort this out🤔

I have had the same issue but it is back again BUT they are charging £6 delivery .
I pay monthly for unlimited deliveries.
The website is awful and alot of food is now out of stock .
I think I might cancel.

handmademitlove · 17/12/2025 16:21

@nightcapers I did try that as I have had this issue in the past as well. However, as the Christmas slots were booked in October the link in the email has timed out (who knew that was even a thing?!) so I couldn't do it. I was expecting customer services to send me a new link - not cancel the order!

I second Ocado. I’ve just had my shop delivered. Very rarely get substitutions and what you do get are sensible. Added bonus is you can get M&S food.

Hairymaryfairy · 17/12/2025 16:26

This year I've not done a home delivery. I ordered meat from the butchers and will go tesco or Sainsbury's in person for the rest on Monday.

sanityisamyth · 17/12/2025 16:31

I moved from Asda to Tesco as I couldn’t get their app to work. I haven’t booked Christmas shop as I’m trying to pretend it’s not happening! There is one available for the 20th December which I don’t think is too bad?!

miserablestepmum · 17/12/2025 16:38

I stopped shopping at Asda completely when they took the rewards away, tight gits. I used to earn enough throughout the year to do my whole Christmas food shop, you literally get a few items on offer now, so I moved to Tesco and don't shop at Asda any more.

dinesaurrawr · 17/12/2025 16:42

I’ve decided to fuck Asda off once and for all, every single time I open the app lately it tells me my password it wrong so I’ve given up changing it now ! They never have what I’ve ordered either, 5+ items substituted? Not acceptable!

nightcapers · 17/12/2025 16:44

@handmademitlove that's rubbish. I hope they give you a decent voucher or something for the stress!

Fbfbfvfvv · 17/12/2025 16:58

Oh no!! I’ve ordered the Christmas food shop with them, scared to check now!

Ive had so many substitutions on the bits of Christmas food I’ve ordered in my previous food shops over the past few weeks, I don’t hold out much hope for the actual Christmas shop.

Ive found the website awful to use for a while now - things constantly out of stock, even basic things. Items I used to order not listed at all. I wanted to order Croft Sherry the other week and it wasn’t listed, like it didn’t exist. Not even a photo and out of stock, it just wasn’t listed at all. I thought they might have stopped selling it which I thought was strange at Christmas, went into the actual store and there it was.

And the amount of things lately that they’ve sent to me that are visibly damaged, out of date or rotten is beyond a joke.

VexedofVirginiaWater · 17/12/2025 17:49

Their new website/app has caused all sorts of problems - it wouldn't accept my debit card for weeks, only my credit card, even though there was no problem elsewhere, and they gave unhelpful answers. Then it seemed to go ok, and then suddenly I had no delivery pass and therefore I lost my recurring slot because, yes, it wouldn't accept my debit card. It feels like they want to go out of business.

This reminds me of something that has happened to me twice recently on their webpage - I had done the whole shop, got to payment, put all of the card details in and did the card authorisation. It behaved like the order was going through, then my entire basket emptied with no record of my order or an email. In the end I had to do the entire shop again.
I think I will stop using them.
