Boss being intimate in his office

A colleague recently told me that my boss and his wife are actually not having lunch in his office everyday but getting it on. I’m fairly new to the medium sized business.

I don’t know why but I feel that this is highly inappropriate. I rarely go in the office. And neither do other colleagues it’s where boss does his paperwork mostly as the owner. I just think it’s highly unprofessional. AIBU? It’s a place of work. I told dh and he didn’t see why I was bothered

Workplaces aren’t sexy.

I expect they really are just eating lunch.

didntlikeanyofthesuggestions · 11/12/2025 11:56

It's Schrödinger's office. Maybe they're having lunch, maybe they are being intimate. As you've no way of knowing for sure, just assume they're having lunch.

ChristmasIsAMindset · 11/12/2025 11:56

Well if your colleague said it then it's definitely true.

Beamur · 11/12/2025 11:57

It's not really any of your business

The wife’s cousin (works here) is the one who told me. Everyone knows it and just ignores it. Act like it’s perfectly normal.

@didntlikeanyofthesuggestions why did I read this in Sheldon cooper voice 🤣🤣🤣

ChristmasIsAMindset · 11/12/2025 11:58

Are you generally gullible? Seems like the sort of offhand comment a colleague would make in jest.

Or were they telling you that they had seen them really going at it?

sprigatito · 11/12/2025 11:58

Well, does his office stench of sex or not?

Ksassi · 11/12/2025 11:59

He often airs it out!

Nope.

InLoveWithAI · 11/12/2025 12:01

Can't say I'd be bothered more than an eye roll.

CrossChecking · 11/12/2025 12:03

If they are having sex in his office then they are clearly being discreet about it given you had no idea prior to your colleague telling you.

What choices do you really have here? Excuse me boss but rumour has it you are shagging your wife in your office and I don't like it? Just stop imagining them having sex and go back to imagining them having sandwiches and it'll be fine.

Bikergran · 11/12/2025 12:04

His office, his company, his wife. None of your business what he does in his lunch hour at work!

Justlostmybagel · 11/12/2025 12:04

Good for them.

Ksassi · 11/12/2025 12:07

I don’t know. The workplace is supposed to be a professional environment. It just feels inappropriate to me

You wouldn't even have known, if you hadn't been told. They're not shagging in front of you so keep your nose out.

MyAmusedPearlSquid · 11/12/2025 12:12

Why are you getting this bother you move on and forget about it

schoolfriend · 11/12/2025 12:13

I wouldn’t get wound up about this, good for them I guess 🤷‍♀️

Overtheatlantic · 11/12/2025 12:17

I think it’s gross and not at all “good for them”. It’s obviously their kink, to get off in the office unbeknownst to the people working. They have no right to include others in that scenario.

Randomlygeneratedname · 11/12/2025 12:17

This just sounds like a total wind up to me honestly, or a rumour which goes all round the houses. I don't think the fact it is her cousin makes any difference, she is probably just a gossip.

Spartak · 11/12/2025 12:17

I most work from home, as do lots of other people. Just so we're all fully informed of the acceptable workplace etiquette, is it just sex that is inappropriate, or is a blowie OK as long as it's in another room? 🤔

Jollyjoy · 11/12/2025 12:19

Wtf I can’t believe these answers! If anyone has to hear them having sex or be exposed to it in any way - totally grim. If it’s not true that’s another matter.

Ksassi · 11/12/2025 12:21

No one hears or sees anything. But like I said we come to work to work. Not be involved in each others sex lives

YABU to use the phrase "being intimate".

Well I didn’t want to be accused of being a sex troll
