Christmas card from neighbour..

Ive received a card from our neighbours two door down and it states all,the family’s name. To NewandBlue and husband from Pam, Pete, then also has their two adult children names on with their partners and kids names?

As it’s only Pam and Pete that are our neighbours I can’t see the point in putting all the families names on the card. Am I unreasonable?

Oh the irony I've spelt his name wrong he's Tony, not Tomy.

At least you got a card, who cares whose names are on it, they obviously do it as a family thing, your post is ridiculous

Loveshark25 · 10/12/2025 20:12

Ungrateful and rude !!!

Wonderlandpeony · 10/12/2025 20:28

I would just write their card out to Pam, Pete and family, rather than write all the names.

Alliod40 · 10/12/2025 20:29

Christ Mumsnet miserable Mum has hit an all time low with this one ffs..get over yourself and either return a card to all the family or dont..bet you're a delight of a neighbour

Manthide · 10/12/2025 20:38

People can be so strange about Christmas cards! I don't mind what people write, it's a nice gesture! Dm loves buying cards. I went out with her and df to a Christmas dinner last week with a group of people they know (someone had dropped out). Anyway dm handed cards to everyone including me and then said I'd get another 'proper' one but she didn't want me feeling left out! I'm 60 not 6!

No, not new to the street. There are a lot of neighbours and their children’s and partners names (and their little ones names) so quite long to write!

It seems a bit pointless to me, also I don’t know their family.

Who cares? It’s their choice to spend the time writing the cards, which is a lovely thing to do. You on the other hand sound so miserable you had to make a post about it??

Are you really this bored, or just really pathetic? I am on the fence, but I think you might be both. Why don't you go ask to speak with their manager.

zsbcghy · 10/12/2025 20:51

I wish I had only that problem in the world! seems a bit of overthinking on such a unimportant thing

NeedATreat · 10/12/2025 22:15

“It’ll have to do as I’ve lots to write out”

Who knew it was possible to be a jobsworth about Christmas cards? Why bother sending them if it’s such a chore?

NeedATreat · 10/12/2025 22:17

My favourite comment from the Facebook post with this thread linked is “Ah yes, nothing worse than a friendly greeting from too many people…”

IMBananas666 · 10/12/2025 22:25

I mean, would it kill you to add extra names?

Bearybasket · 10/12/2025 22:25

The more I think about the more I agree with you.

I’d find a bit weird (harmlessly weird but still) if my parents put my kids and my husbands names on their christmas cards, doubly so if they were for people I've never even met

LetMeGoogleThat · 11/12/2025 00:15

They've probably just written it alongside a stack of others which they were adding all their names to, it's not that deep and I doubt most people would give it a second thought.

Damnloginpopup · 11/12/2025 01:02

Fuckers. They'd get nothing from me. None of you would. Keep your stupid slices of dead tree to yourself.

Snowmen, robins and shiny babies my arsehole.

TheMixedGirl · 11/12/2025 01:24

Omg what a silly post. It is a Christmas card from the whole family a lovely thought and you are picking it apart

Kindness is never "pointless."

Bones101 · 11/12/2025 01:50

I've 4 siblings and mum writes all our names to people who know us. It's a nice thing. Says a lot about you op.

Wordsmithery · 11/12/2025 02:12

It's sad that your takeaway from their Christmas gesture is this rather churlish 'But I don't know their DC.'
Mood hoover, much.

We've lived here over 10 years and received a Christmas card the first year addressed to our house number " To new neighbours at No. 6 from Steve & Amy No. 23 "
So popped one in their door to them , obviously from our name .
Since then we have received one every year . We've sent back but tbh , even if I passed them in the street , I wouldn't know it was them , we've never met them !
This year we are not going to respond by sending a card and hopefully they won't bother next year.

That's mean.. why not knock on their door instead..? 😏

Bluedenimdoglover · 11/12/2025 05:25

Put the card up, send one back to them. Job done

MyMiniMetro · 11/12/2025 05:29

I agree with you that it’s weird- but it’s just a Christmas card.

CypressGrove · 11/12/2025 06:33

Burn down their house!!
