Given it's an anonymous forum, please share how much time you average on your phone a day. I'm embarrassed by mine and need to see how far outside of normal it is!

Not just a guess but using the data in your iPhone or Android.
iPhone: Settings > Screen Time
Android: Settings > Digital Wellbeing and parental controls

Averaging 4 hours a day for the last week! But in my defence it’s been Black Friday and I’ve got a lot of my Christmas shopping done. I know that’s bad.

namechange3651 · 30/11/2025 10:49

7h 17m average per day across last week 🫠

In my own defence, I do have work apps (slack/gmail) installed and tend to do a fair amount of work admin on it during the day. Definitely too much mumsnet scrolling as well though!

Upthenorth · 30/11/2025 10:50

Between 2-3 hours a day… trying to cut down.

Like others say, it includes phone calls and things. It’s not all doom scrolling… mostly Mumsnet.

Alexasashes · 30/11/2025 10:53

1hr 11 mins apparently but that seems low it feels like more

FrankSinatraonToast · 30/11/2025 10:53

I get a weekly report every Monday and last week I averaged 7hr a day and was absolutely horrified by it. I've stopped scrolling etc when watching TV and don't allow myself to scroll in bed anymore.

ResusciAnnie · 30/11/2025 10:55

Too much! My screen time is like 5 - 7 hours a day. I’m waiting at piano lesson now and all the parents are on their phone.

Banking
Groceries
calendar/social life
music
podcasts
recipes
google
work
mumsnet

no social media other than fucking MN!

sorrynotathome · 30/11/2025 10:56

Whatever it is, it's too much :(

CandyCaneKisses · 30/11/2025 10:58

I don’t have my screen time on but I’d say a couple of hours per day.
I was sat waiting for an appointment yesterday and every single person was staring at a phone in the waiting room. They all looked like zombies taken over by a phone.

iSage · 30/11/2025 11:00

I hardly use my phone but according to my laptop's weekly report, an average of 3 hours 7 minutes daily on the laptop last week.

VernitaGreen · 30/11/2025 11:04

I'm hoping maps and podcast use while commute is counted as that will bring the scrolling time down.

Too much. 7hrs and 48m per day this past week.

Ionlymakejokestodistractmyself · 30/11/2025 11:10

Jeez what an eye opener.

Between a "low" of 2.5 hours and peaking at a whopping 8 hours one day this month 😳

I do use it for work a fair bit but still.

Many days are 4 hours +

That's insane.

It's definitely illuminating. I get sent a weekly update so I do tend to see it steadily creep up or down depending on what I've been doing.

6hrs or so. No phone at work unless I’m on a break/lunch as I don’t have signal or WiFi

JoWawa · 30/11/2025 12:36

11 minutes a day apparently

HollyGolightly4 · 30/11/2025 12:46

Too much time! I've downloaded candy crush and that is a bad habit. I need to shift my mindset a bit! This has given me a wake up call!

ThePoshUns · 30/11/2025 13:19

Ave 5hrs 56 minutes, but some days it’s over 7hrs. In my defence a lot of that is whilst DH is watching football on TV.

RedRiverShore5 · 30/11/2025 13:22

About 10 minutes a day, I don't use it much. I find it too small for most things even though it's a Pro Max.

Actually just checked and it's 5 minutes

BellRock1234 · 30/11/2025 13:29

I've added the digital wellbeing widget to my phone, so I see my minutes every time I pick it up. I try to keep it under 1 hour 30 - the same limit i set DC.

I don't always hit it. Average is ~2hr, but odd days will be 4.

Superhansrantowindsor · 30/11/2025 13:31

Far, far too much. I think it’s pretty much an addiction

mrspk · 30/11/2025 13:34

3.5 hours per day, it's too much, I reach for it all the time. Then I say I have no time for housework or exercise 🤔

Whathappend · 30/11/2025 13:43

I can't unsee this thread. I didn't know that feature existed.

Oh lordy.

11h 21min on Friday 😳 (I'd like to think citymapper app and researching where I was going on a greater London roaming day out, but still...)

I can't find where to see the weekly average, which is probably a blessing.

PlumBear · 30/11/2025 13:49

I’m normally 3.5 - 4 hours a week. This week is around 3 hours and that feels better.

Anything over and I know I’ve been on too much. It’s hard though with grocery shopping, school admin and especially Christmas shopping right now.

TheChosenTwo · 30/11/2025 13:52

Averaged 3.5 hours a day last week, far too much. What did I do with that time before I had a smartphone? What a waste of time.
i tend to scroll when I wake up and again in the evening while dh is cooking.
Also did a lot of shopping from my phone last week so my report that comes through on a Monday will no doubt bring me more bad news tomorrow!

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 30/11/2025 13:55

Way too much...I don't even want to look. I have adhd and do struggle with impulse control, but I don't want to fritter my life away looking at a tiny screen, so I need to do something to break the cycle.
