So Excited Flirting GIF

Chilled Saturday home today and Uswitch shall provide.

Slot booked 12-5
Hoover ready to go
3 loads of washing ready to go, looking around for stuff for 4th...
Dehumidifier and electric heaters ready to go
May help drying with a hairdryer on top of that😂 (no timble drier currently)
Mega roast session to eat over next few days and freeze some. Just marinating the meat.
Kettle shall not rest (boiling water with washing up liquid is just perfect bathroom clean combo)
Heating up the flat to a tropical temper hoping it will stick a bit and will make heating bit easier in next few days.

What a sad realisation this actually excites me😂

What are you talking about?

Lots of energy companies offer free energy windows every now and again, others do half price electricity during the weekend (11-4 Saturdays and Sundays with Scottish Power, for example).

Tamfs · 22/11/2025 10:18

Ooh thanks for the reminder will stick the heating and tumble dryer on!

Femalemachinest · 22/11/2025 10:20

Im with edf and i earnt 4 free hours tomorrow. I will do washing and dishwasher. Other than thay crack on as normal.

ErmThisOne · 22/11/2025 10:21

I have some washing lined up… oven has bloody broken so relying on air fryer and slow cooker… can I defrost a pork joint in that?

Maybe I’ll boil the kettle a few times for the mop bucket but that means mopping and I don’t really want to do that.

BengalBangle · 22/11/2025 10:21

'leccy' 🤮

ScrambledEggs12 · 22/11/2025 10:24

Charge the car and have extra long showers (no water meter, so just the cost of electricity)

Itsfreeandiloveit · 22/11/2025 10:25

It's the free Uswitch hours offer. It's 25 hours over 5 weekends in Nov, max £25 back.

Octopus haven't had any free sessions last couple of weeks so just timed everything into these Uswitch slots.

@Femalemachinest oooh can you tell me more about the EDF offer?

They give you a goal to shift your peak usage during the week and then you can gain so many hours back on a Sunday. It's called Sunday saver. If you google it it should come up.

I cant say i particularly try to shift my usage, sometimes I get it, sometimes I dont. I've put a wash on during week this week so probably won't get anything next week.

Interesting. Thanks!

I shift things to these when I know I will be home. Last weekend we were out so just used everything as normal through the week. It's nice little bonuses when time is right

British Gas do lots of off peak days and honestly it saves a pitiful amount, even when I get the dryer on. It doesn’t include standing charges!

Company which would offer old style 20p service charges would get ALL the customers.

I'm not in UK. I get free electricity on a Sunday (or Saturday, have to choose which day) from 8am to 11pm all year round.

It's brilliant, especially in Winter as I can use the inset fires, halogen heaters, and all the expensive to run stuff. It's like an electricity sub station here on Sundays lol.😊

Nourishinghandcream · 22/11/2025 11:27

We are with Eon Next and last year got free EL & gas Christmas & Boxing days.
Didn't bother doing any washing or drying on those days.

Washer ready to go on
Will dry it after and maybe another load
Heating off and electric fan heater ready instead
DH sanding kitchen ceiling with a big electric sander with vacuum attached
Will charge cordless vacuum and other things that need charging

Ariela · 22/11/2025 12:09

My free electricity is when the sun shines - solar. So not today.
This is when it heats our hot water (diverts to the immersion heater rather than using oil when we generate 0.2kw over what we are using)
I use
dishwasher
washing machine - absolutely everything including sheets, towels as many loads as the sun shines.
tumble dry especially the big stuff (sheets and towels) as well as all the socks etc that take ages to peg out
hoover
stick something in the slow cooker or use the electric oven rather than cook on oil (Rayburn). Might also bake (Rayburn is better at baking), or make pasties or pies for the freezer or even Yorkshire puds - things that take a while or need a high temp in the oven.
charge up all the battery packs etc that might need recharging

Again, it depends on your tariff.

Most suppliers offer multiple tariffs and you need to check which on is best for you.
Didn't choose that one last year for the free G&E on 25th & 26th Dec but it was an added bonus.

hattie43 · 23/11/2025 04:09

I’ve never heard of southern electric doing this .

ADHDdiagnosis · 23/11/2025 04:20

I’m with octopus never heard of this. Will I get an offer? And how?

xanthomelana · 23/11/2025 05:00

I’m with EDF and have 8 hours free today, 8-4. We don’t do any washing and drying during the week because we’ve had a minimum of 4 hours free every Sunday for the last few weeks.

Dontcallmescarface · 23/11/2025 06:08

I'm on prepay so don't get it. Is it really "free" though given how much people pay on direct debit?
