Cancer - hand hold

Breathe Chill Out GIF by CSDRMS

It’s more of a hand hold than an AIBU but when I posted in the cancer group a few weeks ago I didn’t get many responses. So apologies, I know I’m being naughty posting here.

i just want a hand hold. Early 30’s, a 1&2 YO, cancer diagnosis with hopeful treatment to cure.

starting my chemo today, now, it’s a long old day of sitting in a chair. Just want a chit chat, a hand hold. What is everyone doing today?

trying my best to stay zen. Anything good to watch on iPlayer or Netflix?

Sending you prayers for a swift recovery Flowers

How are the medics, are they treating you well?

I would re-watch all 4 seasons of Stranger Things to get ready for Stranger Things 5 which comes next week!

MujeresLibres · 21/11/2025 10:57

Hope it goes well OP. We have started watching 'The Night Manager' on iPlayer (missed it first time round) and enjoying that.

Haveyou3 · 21/11/2025 11:00

Hi OP, sorry to hear this.

I took the kids to school this morning, came home did washing now I’m just trying to warm up as it’s absolutely freezing here!

Wishing you all the best💪🏼💖

Ecstaticmotion · 21/11/2025 11:00

Hey OP, I'm sorry you're going through this and glad they are hopeful of a good outcome eventually. Netflix: have you watched Stranger Things? I know it's been out for ages but it's great if you haven't, will absorb you a bit without too much 'real' life. Idk if you're open to reality TV but selling sunset is fun and silly to look at INSANE houses in the US, and their fashion/drama too. Ginny and Georgia is a good series, easy watch and sort of dramatic but tongue in cheek. If i think of more I'll let you know.

Sometimes hospitals have volunteers coming round doing holistic stuff like aromatherapy and foot massages, so maybe one of your appts there'll be something nice like that, i hope so. I'm about to go to a gym appt (trying to get stronger for a big hike next year, I hope one day you'll be doing something similar if you fancy it) but hopefully others will reply too. And well done for asking for support; it's an important skill to have. x

Haveyou3 · 21/11/2025 11:01

I watched something on Netflix the other day called “the feud” I really enjoyed it. Kept me on the edge of my seat!

rainbowsinheaven · 21/11/2025 11:02

Hope it all goes as well as it can. Thinking of you

vitalityvix · 21/11/2025 11:03

Sending hugs! I don’t really have the words. I hope things start looking up ❤️

In terms of Netflix, what kind of things do you like? There’s a new series of squid game the challenge which I loved! Super easy to binge. I’ve also just watched the most recent season of selling sunset. If you haven’t watched any of the Real Housewives franchise they are on Amazon Prime with a Hayu subscription! X

Gentlydoesit2 · 21/11/2025 11:03

Hi 👋🏼 I hope this isn't insensitive but I've just started watching "The Big C" on Netflix... It's really good, lighthearted and funny. I realise this might be the absolute last thing you'd want to watch but it also might be incredibly comforting?! It's cold today, hope you're keeping warm x

Goldenbear · 21/11/2025 11:06

Hope it goes well for you💐

There's a new Robin Hood for Sean Bean as the Sheriff on Prime and subscription trial I think.

Oh that sounds lovely, wouldn’t might a foot massage. I don’t think they do that here but there is a local cancer charity near me that offers things like that, which I’m hoping to look at next week.

sometimes it’s nice to have a little pick me up when life throws you a bag of poo. 🤣🥴

Hi, OP -

I am sorry you didn’t get a good response earlier. I think it’s really random.

I hope you have settled in now with something distracting and you aren’t feeling too bad. Very best wishes for a great outcome.

Rosealea · 21/11/2025 11:26

Hi OP. What kind of things do you normally like to watch? Let us know and you'll get some recommendations I'm sure.

What are your wee ones up to today while you're all tied up? 🥴💞

OneBookTooMany · 21/11/2025 11:36

Sending you best wishes for the time you will spend being treated and for a good recovery.

Watching Kath and Kim on Netflix made me chuckle.

OneBookTooMany · 21/11/2025 11:38

Also, Mr Burton has arrived on iPlayer. It stars Toby Jones and is about the early life of Richard Burton and the teacher who gave him his name.
It's good.

Dearg · 21/11/2025 11:44

Sorry you are facing this, especially with little ones to think about too.

My recommendation would be ‘The English’ on iPlayer . Stars Emily Blunt. It will make you cry though.

All the best for your treatment.

OhRight7 · 21/11/2025 11:52

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. You will fight it. As a mum this must be so scary but your beautiful babies will give you all the strength you need 💕
The Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix is a brilliant show, will easily get you hooked and pass the time, if you’ve not seen it.
Fleabag on bbc app is very funny and a good giggle always helps.
I also recommend listening to some uplifting podcasts if you ever need a boost in motivation to keep your energy in a good place.
Sending love 💕

Seawolves · 21/11/2025 11:57

Good luck, I hope your treatment goes well and is as kind as possible. I remember DH starting his chemo on Christmas Eve during lockdown, I remember posting on here asking for support while I waited for him to finish (I wasn't allowed in with him), I had some wonderful support that day from this place that I have never forgotten. I hope you get the same.

Wishimaywishimight · 21/11/2025 12:11

I'm sorry to hear you are going through this OP and wish you a great recovery.

I just finished The Beast in Me on Netflix - it was fabulous, really gripping!

Thank you all. Things are going OK. Have a cold cap on, started chemo drugs, things are rolling. Feeling ok but a little tired, but that’s mainly due to LO keeping me awake. Desperately trying to have a nap but brain won’t let me!

tiv2020 · 21/11/2025 14:34

Sorry OP, I do not have any good recommendations cause I have lost my taste for TV years ago, but I could not read and run. I hope you have tons of support in RL from family and friends. Sending you flowers and a warm strong handhold.

OhRight7 · 21/11/2025 19:20

How did you get on today OP? I hope you’re being well looked after at home, with plenty of cuddles from your babies 💕

Midgetgemsplease · 21/11/2025 19:26

Hey OP. Sending a huge hug to you and your little ones. ☺️Have you watched Riot Women? It's in six parts. Also Mix Tapes. Both are fab

Mamabear0202 · 21/11/2025 20:12

Hi, thanks for checking in. Feel fine, absolutely fine.

I’ve heard and read that usually the more doses you have the more your body is like wtaf and can get more symptoms. But I feel fine at the moment; it’s strange; I feel like like an unknown ticking time bomb!
