To be disappointed that boiling an egg in the air fryer didn’t work

I’d read great things about boiling eggs in the air fryer but I’ve just tried it.

Good - the time and temperature recommended resulted in a perfect jammy yolk as promised.

Bad - lost half the whites because the shells appeared superglued on 🤨

Me too! I have never met another person who does this. (I’m sadly quite excited by this now!) The whites make me sick. What’s your reason?

I just don’t like the texture! It’s fine if it’s scrambled egg, or an omelette.

Just boil them instead?

Yet you were moved to take time out of your own exciting day to comment. I’m sure we’re all grateful 😁

I understand microwave porridge as if done on hob it can make for quite a messy pan cleaning job. But egg boiling is quite easy and not messy, also pretty quick.

Seems to critically depend on the eggs, my latest batch of eggs don't peel at all usually they are better than boiled in water for peeling which is one reason I do them in the air fryer!

Crikeyalmighty · 23/11/2025 10:56

I do it all the time but on 140 for 11 mins- you are right about the shells though, quite hard to de shell - first time I did it on 180 and they exploded!!

Next up, Mumsnet laments how hard it is to make a cup of tea in the air fryer.
