Hands down the Waitrose one for me! Its like an ad and a mini series in one

Probably explains why the John Lewis one is so shit this year!

Ah she says it in the short version - shame it's not in the longer one - it was the best bit I thought.

Lots of nice refs to 4 weddings in the advert.

I spotted 'they're all of me!' (about the biscuits Keira makes for Joe) and 'I look quite pretty' (Joe watching the edits of the ad). Also the central conceit of a fictional character going out with a real life star (Keira/Claudia).

It's a good ad because they are able to expand it/take bits of it and run it across several media platforms.

Very serendipitous that Joe was popular on Traitors this year - and Keira is everywhere at the moment. A candidate for next year's celeb Traitors?

I like the JL one, and not the Waitrose one. My favourite is the Guinness Christmas ad that they show in Ireland every year.

I've had to You Tube most of these, some are OK but being very old I think that JL 2011 is still my favourite and we never did find out!

I join others in hating the ASDA one and have a question.

The Grinch bloke, in his second sung line, refers to "Spenny gifts". I've googled and am none the wiser - anyone have a clue what this means?

I think some people use 'spenny' as a cutesy way of saying expensive.

Spenny = spendy = expensive

On that note, I was in M&S yesterday and they have a whole section labelled 'Picky Bits'. I'm not sure why they are trying to make picky bits happen, but it sounds 🤢

I don't think I can go in there and risk seeing that.
