Don’t know why I hate i?! Does anyone else?

I shower on working days (3 x per week) and if meeting up with friends etc, but if i’m off for a while, I don’t, is that gross? I could easily go a week if only doing school drop off and food shop, dog walks

"I don't stink either"
I bet your vulva and vagina and bum do. How bloody revolting to not wash those every day.

It's already been said upthread, but it needs to be repeated because of atrocious comments like yours: so people who cannot shower every day - in many cases because a disability prevents them from being able to shower or even wash easily - are 'bloody revolting'?

You know, I'd rather stand next to someone who hadn't showered that day, than next to anyone who shared your awful world view.

Why does everyone have to be the same as everyone else? If someone's happier doing a flannel wash, is clean in the important places and is doing less harm to the environment and reducing their bills, what's so awful about that? It's our modern lifestyles that have caused global warming.

They don’t have to be the same. But to most people, it’s on the rank side to not jump in the shower.

People only stood up and washed with a flannel, because they had no choice. My grandparents could only have dreamed of the convenience of a hot shower and being clean from head to toe in no time.

WonderlandWasAllAHoax · 12/11/2025 18:51

I shower everyday. I hate it (autistic and sensory issues) but I also hate feeling unwashed so I just have to get on with it.

as anyone who commute regularly, I assure you most of us don't!

I understand some people cannot, but the ones who are fit enough to commute in often packed trains, surely could stand or sit in a shower first thing.

SwirlyShirly · 12/11/2025 18:53

I’m the same OP. It’s all the different steps I find it overwhelming especially the hair.

SleeplessInWherever · 12/11/2025 18:57

I shower probably every 3rd day, and wash my hair then too.

I have to do it over lunch on WFH days because our son absolutely kicks off whenever someone goes in the bathroom, storms in and drags you out if he can and basically kicks the bathroom door off its hinges if he can’t. Honestly, it’s not worth the hassle.

I also do not have time for the admin of making my hair look anything other than Monica Gellar Goes to Barbados. On a very rare night off, I might blow dry it. The rest of the time - air dried and in a bun. Haven’t had a haircut since about 2018.

It’s a good job my partner already likes me! 😂

You can tell, it isn't difficult.

How can you tell?
Some people smell because they dont shower frequently or wear clean clothes. Im not convinced you can say accurately how many hours or days have passed since someone showered, or washed....

Didimum · 12/11/2025 19:21

I also hate showering and washing my hair (but equally hate feeling dirty and greasy). It’s a no win situation.

Never have time to shower, always busy, hate being wet (it makes me feel irritated), don’t like the sensation of the water (no, I don’t have sensory issues). Hate using a hairdryer but rarely have time to let hair dry naturally.

Cheeseontoastghost · 12/11/2025 19:25

I had my bathrooms done and had no bath/ shower available for 2 weeks .
It was utterly miserable.
I went to the gym every other day but ugh felt awful
I would feel depressed if I left it a week
Self neglect is a symptom of depression

Yes it's a fuggy unwashed smell

ThejoyofNC · 12/11/2025 19:28

It's impossible not to smell if you only shower once a week. Deodorant is not a replacement for washing.

TenWeeCaramelJoeys · 12/11/2025 19:34

I shower every day. It’s like a reset for me and I don’t feel right until it’s done. But I hate the thought of it and put it off if I’m at home all day. I only wash my hair twice a week. Less if I can get away with it. It’s frizzy enough without me chucking products at it every single day.

Dontfeelchristmassyyet · 12/11/2025 19:35

Halfwaytheree · 12/11/2025 16:38

Yeah but the dog smell is just another factor on top of infrequent showers, it’s an extra smell that will linger in your clothes, hair, bedding etc. how often do you wash your dog?

🙄 My dog doesn’t smell and it doesn’t linger in my hair, so over the top

My grand-mother was very much alive back then (and so was my mum).

They did shower every day too? It's not the Dark Ages, people lived pretty much the way we do now 😂

That’s not the case. Far fewer houses had showers for one thing.

SqB · 12/11/2025 19:42

I bath everyday, shower after the gym and that’s when I wash my hair. Gym 2-3 times a week x

RaraRachael · 12/11/2025 19:45

I shower every evening and wash hair 2 or 3 times a week. It's not the hair washing I hate but the drying and straightening.

You do realise you’re not supposed to wash inside the vagina? Or were you in such a hurry to make pp feel shit that you didn’t bother with logic?

Hotel785634 · 12/11/2025 19:46

I shower morning and evening. Hate not feeling clean. I can definitely smell people who haven’t showered for a couple of days. I only wash my hair every few days because it’s long and thick, but always after exercise/swimming too.

KimberleyClark · 12/11/2025 19:47

TheThingsYouDoForLurve · 12/11/2025 18:09

Eh? My hair would look and smell awful if I only washed it once a week. Where did this ‘once a week’ rule come from?

My hair only needs washing once a week because it isn’t greasy - on the dry side of normal in fact.

No they didn’t. Lots of people back then didn’t have a shower. We didn’t until I was about 11 (late 1970s.) We had a bath, but it was too expensive to heat enough water for five people to have a bath every day, so we washed at the sink several days a week. We weren’t smelly. There’s more than one way to get clean. I wouldn’t say it was necessarily a luxury for people to have a shower in their home, but nobody batted an eyelid if you didn’t because it was so commonplace.

KimberleyClark · 12/11/2025 19:51

dreamiesformolly · 12/11/2025 19:42

I grew up in the 60s and 70s. We did have a shower but it was seen as for washing hair. We had a sink wash every day and a bath and hair wash once a week. I shower daily but still only wash hair once a week.

Fizbosshoes · 12/11/2025 19:52

Without interviewing everyone that smells there isn't an accurate way of knowing if they smell like that after hours/days/weeks of not washing though. Im not convinced its possible to smell that someone hasn't showered that day or detect to the nearest hour when they last did

I shower just about every day, and of course after any exercise, but I have been camping or trekking, where I couldn't shower for several days....and im pretty sure i didnt stink (it was amazing to have a shower afterwards!)

Fwiw I grew up in the 1980s/90s and we didnt have a shower. I had a bath probably 2-3 times a week as a teen, and a sink wash the rest of the time.

Dontfeelchristmassyyet · 12/11/2025 19:52

Cakencookieobsessed · 12/11/2025 18:03

I take it you go to the toilet? How can you be relaxed and happy with a dirty arse? Toilet roll is no substitute for soap and water.

I use toilet wipes not dry toilet paper

in fairness, it's irrelevant if your hair is greasy or dry in term of smell. It can look clean but still smell unpleasant.

BasicBrumble · 12/11/2025 19:56

I'm sure you're probably fine!
